I love Ozzie, but his swing plane leads to a LOT of popouts. His swing is from 5 o'clock to 10 o'clock. He giveth the big HR and he taketh away with the popouts.

Yeah but ultimately the ruling was the ball was caught and Riley broke for home before he caught it. Under the rules that's an out. Think about it this way... If Riley had waited until the ball was ruled to NOT be a catch, then he wouldn't have left early. He left while it was still in question because the ump didn't make that call until the ball met glove.Had Riley waited until then, he wouldn't have been out. He left while the ball was in the air. Riley was probably 15-20 feet towards home already, especially with his lead. I'm thinking he was heading back to 3rd and then saw the call and headed home because it was a force play situation and he had to run home.

Xcellent triple play, the Braves aren’t the only dumb assed runners after all.

Didn't Duvall have a bunch of base running gaffes with the Braves also? I seem to remember some, especially in the playoffs.

Ultimately though... he left 3rd early before the call was made. You can also argue that had the right call been made, the 2nd baseman wouldn't have tried to turn 2 at first and would have thrown to 3rd to get Riley out. So yeah... Riley might have reacted to a bad call, but so did the Sox 2nd baseman.
