I don't think the Cardinals would do us any favors at all.
I honestly think most other teams loathe our organization.

From browsing a lot of message boards what I see pretty universally is fans of other teams hate the chop but otherwise talk really good about our players and organization. When it comes to management I have no idea how they feel about us, no clue what gets said behind closed doors. My gut would be management of some teams may not like us but would likely trade with us if they think it will work for them. I’d see Wainwright as a 90% favor to him and then something they could hold over our heads a little in the future.

So much for the idea of us getting Wainwright at the trade deadline. Looks like he hung on one year too long. He was coming off three good years in a row, I guess it makes sense it was hard to hang them up at that point. He had some sort of injury during or right after the world baseball championship, seems like he pitched well during that then had some sort of injury, I just didn't pay any attention. He's had a bit of a rough season right from the git go, but his last two outings are just brutal.
June 24th against the Cubs he pitched 3 innings and gave up 11 hits, 1 walk and 7 earned runs. June 29th against the Astros he pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 6 hits, 3 walks and 6 earned runs.
Combined that's 4.2 innings, 17 hits, 4 walks and 13 earned runs.
Ouch.
His veteran presents are wore slap out.

or he has nowhere to go but up! One would sure think so but who knows!
We could get him for a pair of Snitkers used undies at this point, and see if he can turn things around enough to help the pen maybe. If he keeps struggling so bad I wouldn't be surprised to see him just raise the white flag and claim some injury and retire early.

What are we going to do when Morton $20M, Ozuna $18M and Fried ~$20M come off the books? Who do we get? Do we sign Fried? Is Ohtani in play? Do we target a DH? Do we go after another closer?

Extend Acuña Ohtani not in play Other than that: More of the same... sign a veteran starter for a couple of years right around the Morton price range.

The Braves would have to add another deck to accommodate all the fans. Geezus

I have no answer here, but I do want to ask the question...
Ozzie injury... I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the Braves roster is asked to play every single game. If Harris wouldn't have gotten hurt, he would have played every single game as well as Olson, Ozzie, Riley, and Acuna... Same with Arcia.. if not for injury, his only time off has been a double-header.
Sorry..: but I am a fan of a backup infielder who spells the starter at one position 5-6 times a season. We went into the post-season in 2019 I think it was because we refused to give FF a couple of days off. He hurt his wrist and was taken out early of one game, but instead of a couple of days off he was right back in the starting lineup the next day and the wrist wasn't right for the rest of the year.

There's no doubt in my mind players are more vulnerable to get hurt when they are playing tired or partly injured but playing through it.
I also believe it probably lessens the number of years they'll be healthy during their careers. As you get hurt more, some things can have a cumulative effect. There's just not one thing that is smart about it, and a whole bunch of reasons not to do it.

People look at the iron-man exceptions and project that should be the norm. There are very few Ripken and Gherigs.
... and it's not just hindsight either. There were several people here who were worried that Freeman wasn't given a few games off. If I remember correctly, we had a sizable lead in the division at the time and just put him right back out there the next day. I even remember discussing that despite a player's desire, it is the manager's job to make the call to sit a guy.
At least here with Ozzie... it's a big enough deal to force our hand and DL him so he can heal proper.
Not trying to dog Snit here.... he has seemed to be a lot more likely to make precautionary moves when someone tweaks something, but I do wonder if a day off here and there might do some good.

It makes me sick at my stomach that Gausman is lights out now that he left the Braves several years ago. Somehow he found the secret sauce and is now a Cy Young caliber pitcher. Imagine him on this staff now? I know we traded for him along with O'Day. Did he simply leave after his tenure with the Braves?

I wonder if Lopez continues to get the starts while Grissom sits on the bench. Lopez is one of those Snitker baseball guys that he falls in love with and always turns to as his primary turn to player.
Personally I would like to see Grissom at 2nd and Lopez at short tonight.
Arcia is cheating trying to get past being late on fastballs which has been a problem for him lately, and when you start doing that you really get in a bad place as a hitter. I think I would give him a couple of games off over this and the next series.
