I would love to have him but I’m not going to get my hopes up, I don’t see us paying him whatever crazy amount he ends up getting. I also don’t see teams like the Mutts or Scrubs or Padres doing it, they’ve already overspent by a long margin. I could see the Dodgers doing it, maybe the Yankers. It would mean Fried was gone and after next year Blowzuna is off the books but I still dont see it. Maybe if we get lucky Blowzuna will hit for a few months and we’ll be smart enough to move him this year. |

Eh.... He's a good utility piece at the very least. He may give that illusion but he’s quite capable of being a .580 OPS less than average fielder. Making a AAAA player a starter tends to put a pressure on guys and they show themselves for what they really are. There’s just too much history there to hope otherwise. But I do hope I’m wrong about him. |

We would have to pay a little more but it wouldn’t be significant. I expect Grissom to take over the job whenever the time slot allows him to, so we are just talking back up utility long term probably, but still. I just hope he doesn’t cost us any games. If he can OPS .700 or better he’s ok, even with his slack defense. I’ll be surprised if he does that well with the bat, but I’ll be crossing my fingers that he can at least be around that number. |
