I find it funny seeing all the people on here trashing both managers I wish I could go back on mlb and find the threads where I was arguing for snitker to get the job and a lot of you were saying the braves needed a young saber guy because they wouldn't make all the stupid pitching changes and even better Classless Dick was one of the guys you wanted most lol The truth is no manager makes perfect choices the only thing that truly matters is if the players believe in the manager and play hard for him they all make the same in game moves right and wrong and like snitker or not his players love him and play for him

The problem with Classless Dick is that he has gone to an extreme. I like the fact that he embraces advanced statistics, but as far as his on field managing goes he seems to be doing it as if he was playing a video game and it was game 7 of the world series. That doesn’t mean every thing he has done is wrong... you just can’t manage like that every game for a 162 game schedule.
You have to have balance between how you look at stats and how you manage a game, understanding you have to manage for the long haul.
As far as Snit goes.... Dude, he totally mismanaged his personnel in that second game. I like the guy 20 times better than I liked Frego, but he did a poor job that game. It has nothing to do with making the right decision every time. That wasn’t choosing the wrong relief pitcher or making a single bad move. For that one game, he seemd to not grasp that the game had any chance of going to extra innings and made multiple mistakes. No one has ever disputed that much like Bobby, his players love him and play really hard for the guy.

I kind of agree with both of you guys Yes Snitker mismanaged the 2nd game but at the same time what manager manages any different than what he did? As For Classless Dick his pitching move that got Snitker Ejected shows me he is in over his head has he ever managed a game other than on Xbox before the Phollies signed him? What is sad about todays game is all managers are the same all teams play the same style same system.

I guarantee you there are managers out there who wouldn’t have burned their entire bench in a tie game in the 8th with that same 2 out scenario.
I will also guarantee you there are a lot of managers who would have PH using someone like a Julio who handles the bat decently instead of letting pitcher Shane Carle take his very 1st major league at bat down 1 run with 1 out already in the bottom of the 11th.
I don’t really say that much about managers decisions if its just because the relief pitcher he chose didn’t perform. His decisions that night were sort of brain dead.

I agree completely on those were both stupid. But while other managers may not have done what he did there in other situations they would do stupid stuff it all balances out. But guys do play there gut sometimes. and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Yeah it does balance out... and I value the fact this team loves playing for Snitker the same way the Cox teams loved playing for him. Long term though I am not positive that is what we need to be serious contenders.
Anyway... I try and just bring up very specific times and places where I think mistakes are made. It’s just part of the baseball conversation since the game began to talk about manager mistakes. By golly.. it’s as American as apple pie and the game itself to yell about the umps and the coaches.

A guy can be a bad manager, mismanage, over manage or micro manage regardless of whether he is trying to rely on analytics or his gut or some combination. Just because a guy says he's using some certain procedure doesn't mean he knows what he's doing or that he's any good at it. Anybody who uses 17 pitchers per game is a tool no matter what his system is.

By the way, did you happen to see Snitker's post game interview after the 15-2 pasting of the Faillies? His eyes got all funny looking, like a 12 year old school girl with a crush, and he said Flaherty is a guy he has been "admiring from afar" for awhile now. In his words Flaherty is a "baseball PLAYER guy." Said it twice. Mentioned his versatility at least three times.
It's amazing what Flaherty has done so far, and I'm thankful for it, but obviously it's not going to last. He has a career OPS of .647.
If you want to stick with the old cave man evaluation, he's a career .219 hitter. Not exactly somebody to get moist over.

I like Snitker, there is something about his facial expressions that really remind me of Cliff Clavin.

I was waiting for Snitker to talk about Flaherty’s “grit” and “moxie”. I was hoping he would talk about lunch pails and workman-like attitude. He should have talked about how Flaherty is a “grinder”.

I thought the flaherty signing was horrible but you never know sometimes a manager or coach just click with a player and poof he becomes a good player look at jose bautista. P3rfect example but do i think Flaherty will be good no idea i figue he has as good a chance as swanson

Snit said it again tonight!!
"Flaherty was just one of those baseball player guys I admired from afar".
I'm pretty sure he winked after saying it.
