I know you guys have said protection means nothing and have made fun of me for disagreeing but at what point do you realize Freeman has not been pitched to one time in a meaningful spot ? Yes he hit a HR but it was done by 5 runs and left left . .. Freddie broke team record with 6 walks in 10 AB .

I would count that HR as a "meaningful spot".

No one said protection means nothing. What was said was that protection was being over valued in that argument, specifically protection that had been offered by Kemp.
We’re about to be 2-1, we’ve scored 25 runs in 3 games, and Freeman is hitting .375 right now.

I have seen even on this board with me not even here when Freddie hit his HR people making fun of me saying we need protection. And you are correct we are scoring well and Freeman has had success and hopefully Acuna will come up and provide protection for Freeman because he has been pitched around in every situation that baseballs so called unspoken rules dictate..which didn't happen last yr with kemp

I have seen the comments as well. i may have even made a couple of them, but again; it was that the issue of protection was being over-valued... not that it didn’t exist at all.. and a lot of it had to do with Kemp as well.
Pitchers have been careful with him and one of those times led to us winning the game, and Freddie has still gotten some key hits.
Kemp is gone... Freddie has scored 5 runs and has 4 rbi’s in 3 games. Obviously what he has behind him (not named Kemp) is doing pretty well, and obviously he is still getting his own chances.

The mocking has always been towards relying on Kemp to be the protection, he's not been productive in several years (yes he hit some HR's but his wRC+ the last three years have been 100, 109 and 109) and he had the same OPS the last 2/3 of the season last year that Dansby did. Dansby was the same as Kemp the last 4 months of the season, but somehow Dansby is the devil and Kemp is teh God. The mocking was also towards claims we didn't come out ahead by clearing Kemp's useless salary off the books a year early. But never let facts get in the way!

We didnt come out ahead again we pd 47 mil to keep from paying 36 mil we lost. We are paying our enemies. The Mets 1B 22 mil to beat us . As for Kemp he is starting in LA so he must not be they bad. However my complaint about protection wasn't a Kemp thing as much as a Kemp type player who has a reputation as a guy who will hit a HR had we got rid of Kemp and signed a power hitter even a Todd Frazier or Jose Bautista Freeman would see better pitches ànd not be getting walked 50% of the time and 100% of the time when the game is on the line . But tonight will tell us alot if the Nats walk him it's going to be a long season for him unless ACUNA COMES UP AND PUTS FEAR IN PITCHERS

We came out ahead if you would step back and change your perspective, looking beyond this one season.
Plus with the way Freeman has been going, teams would be careful with him no matter who was batting behind him.
Do i want to face the career BA of .245, OPS .779 Frazier or do I want to face career .290, .874 Freeman with the game on the line?

Why hart why? Are you trying to destroy what you've built? I said early on that everyone would get a chance. Cheaters gets a chance as well, and is welcome to post opinion. I made it clear early on that this was a place to get a fresh start. If opinion changes to race baiting, name calling, or general belligerence (which are on the very small list of things not allowed), then I will deal with it appropriately. If anyone has a complaint about the behavior of any member, please let me know and I will address the situation.

I didn't catch any of the arguments with Cheater on the old board as I wasn't posting all that much. But if he is just here to be sarcastic and razz on HMF and Uckery then I like the guy already.

I've reported this post to the moderator and recommended you be banned permanently, and sent a note to Trump asking him to nuke your house and the houses of all of your relatives. C'mon Trump, make Canada great again! Or great for the first time? Or maybe just bearable. Meh.

I understand we have more money next yr my point is couldn't we have just reworked his contact and gave him a 1 yr deal for say 37mil and came out 10 mil to the good ?

Why would he take less money? He saw what happened to guys like him this past offseason. Barring a resurgences he'll prob be sitting at home on opening day 2020. If he had taken 10 mil less from us to get his money upfront he would have lost 10 Mil. Kemp is on his final contract. And please finally understand this, we didn't just rid ourselves of Kemp for next year. We also got OUR NUMBER 3 STARTER AND A GOOD UNTILITY GUY! Both of which could hold trade value at the deadline. For petes sake how many times does it take multiple people to say the same thing before it gets through your thick skull?
