The possibility exists that to decide the division; the Braves could have to play another game with Colorado to make up for a rainout, and then another game with Philly to decide a tie-breaker. Very true, but 2 out of 3 in this series will pretty much do it. If the Braves win the first game, the pressure on them becomes pretty intense.

2-1 vs the phillies and 1-2 vs the Mets should be enough to wrap it up if my math is correct.
A win would bring the magic number to 3, another would bring it to 1. One loss would keep the magic number pat, and just one win against the mets would clinch it.
Of course sweeping the phils outright would eliminate any potential for drama. But 2-1 and 1-2 respectively would wrap it up if I did that all correctly.

If we win 2, they can lose another game and we would have to get swept by the mutts for that to get them in.

Simpler way: How bout if we sweep them? That would be optimal. But just winning the series would really put some pressure on them.

I don't see them pulling off a sweep.

ok at that terrible location. Hitter had to have been expecting something else to have not launched that 10000 feet. Fastball tailing right back square over the middle of the plate. Probably was expecting that mediocre slider, but this beach ball down Broadway must have completely caught him by surprise.

And here's the two called third strikes Smith got away with in the 9th inning that saved his rear end. Think of what happens if he doesn't get both of those calls.

Meh..........the balls and strikes umpiring is so bad nowadays, I'm sure he's gotten the bad end of those calls many times.

No doubt about it you're right, but the point was he got super lucky to get those calls at that time because otherwise it's almost a 100% certainty we would have lost that game. He had a brutal outing and got bailed out by the umpire.

Oh, I don't disagree with you in the least. Smith can't be effective with the pitches he currently has. He needs to add a change or something, because his fastball sucks.

He has the good slider but more often than not he has no command of it at all. So the hitters can sit on the weak straight fastball he throws, or take advantage of a hanging slider.
