Ok, so I found our new manager that we need. I never liked Backman when he was playing, but he's exactly what we need.

Wilson is 23 years old and has 105 innings of big league ball under his belt.
He's started 6 games for the Pirates and 4 of them have been pretty good, with the other two not being disasters.
Now that he has a regular job in the big leagues he's likely to settle in and start getting better.
Did I mention he's only 23 and has only thrown 105 innings in the big leagues?
Probably benefitting from pitching coaches who actually know how to refine that kind of raw talent. Would have been nice to have done that here, but it just didnt appear to be happening. The Pirates are an organization that has the time to wait for his potential and cannot disagree about the pitching coaches. I see his upside as a 3rd or 4th guy in the rotation. But that is not bad, We will see what he is in his late 20s. Braves are in a position to compete for the playoffs every year now and the fit just did not seem to be here. One thing about pitchers is when you look at the career of Charlie Morton you cannot close the book as long as the guy has stuff and is healthy but the fit and being in the right place is important - Charlie really found himself since 2017 pitching with better teams. So Bryse might turn out good someday We just got a guy who should help now and a couple of more yrs

I did not know he was still around managing. I doubt he would get a MLB job today given who is in charge of the game. Would not be surprised if one of those MLB players of today would knock the S out of his him. Sure would be a departure of what we have had it would not be boring. These IVY league nerds in the FO could not handle that Hell I would not put up with that crap in the workplace, never did. Never had to

Phillies LOSE to Colorado 11-2. As much as we agonize over our team, can you imagine how much it must suck to be a Faillies fan?
Oh well, I'm still looking forward to the day when our rebuild catches up to theirs......bwahahahahahahaha!!!
To be honest we Braves fans are somewhat spoiled since 1991. We really have had it pretty good for the most part Post season frustration - yes but we get there. And the Philly team has gone out and spent and gone for it at different times. This should be what, our 21st division title? Not bad at all - if only we could have completed the upset vs LAD last yr that was our opportunity but could be worse

I don't think it's possible to project the ceiling for any pitcher because there are so many factors, not the least of which is his brain and his ability and willingness to learn and make adjustments.
As for Wilson not being a fit here, I don't see why not. I mean hell, if we had room for Josh Tomlin, who sucks and has no upside, why not Bryse Wilson? We continually have room for Newcomb, who after 5 years or more STILL can't throw the ball over the plate.
We hold guys back sometimes for no reason that I can see. How is a guy supposed to learn to pitch to big league hitters if he only gets the opportunity to do so sporadically? We yo-yo guys back and forth too much, IMO. I don't keep up with other teams' practices, although I'm sure a lot of other orgs do the same thing. My 2 cents.

It is hard to understand, as booing has been unequivocally proven to lead to championships.

The Booing is just a reflection of the personality and attitude of a region.
All it is a release of pent up frustration and given the history of those teams in Philly well, they have had their share of frustration and less than expectation with all of their teams
If you are not from the Northeast, you likely will not understand the reaction of how those fans react. You can never accuse the fans from that part of the country of apathy. Better to Boo and show up for the games than just not show or not say anything.
They do Boo more in Philly, NY and to a degree Boston than other parts of the country. This is not your passive aggressive if you do not have something nice to say do not say it at all mentality. Poor performance translates into expressive behavior.
Now throwing stuff and interfering in the game well, that is over the line for me. I grew up in the Northeast, I get it with the Booing. They Boo cause they are mad at the performance, do not want to get Booed than play better. Booing is part of my culture as a sports fan and I am proud of it.
That is as far as I go - its just an expression of displeasure with performance

Good question as to why we kept yo yo ing Wilson but he always seemed like the odd man out As for Newcomb - only reason I can see is he has the hard stuff and is left handed Tomlin - we know what he is and look at all the yrs we kept on with Folty who drove us nuts for 6 yrs save for one very good yr. Its a matter of perception by the powers that be. But Wilson is in a better place for himself at this time cause he will have the time to get better and we did get a needed pen arm who may have a bigger role before long. I just hope we do not do the yo yo game with Muller. I hope he will be ready soon, big guy with strikeout ability.

I don't keep up with other teams' practices, although I'm sure a lot of other orgs do the same thing. My 2 cents. In my opinion Wilson showed more potential than Touki but we've had a really long leash with Touki. He's as wild as a fart in a whirlwind and I don't see him improving much if any at all on his control. He really worries me, I'd much rather have seen Wilson given the kind of opportunity that Touki has been given.
I get it that a coach or GM are going to like certain players over others, I just don't like the degree we go to with those gut instincts of theirs. Like anyone, I would favor certain players, but when the performance isn't good to me you have to give others guys a chance too. If nothing else split the time or whatever. Because you never know. But we favor certain guys and we just stick with them no matter what and we bury other guys. It's too extreme for my liking. My attitude is that it's a good thing for a player to feel some sort of pressure and competition for his job, and the Braves want a guy to feel 100% content that he has the job no matter what. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but I don't like that approach.

That is as far as I go - its just an expression of displeasure with performance I get it, and I do think there's times it's justified to boo a player, and I've done it many times myself. I do it when there's a lack of hustle or a blatant mental mistake where it's obvious a players head is not in the game. What I deride about booing is when it's excessive, like yankees like to do, and when they act like it makes them superior fans, or act like it actually makes a difference.
