Who was that impersonating Will Smith? That was the Will Smith who isn't as puckered and prone to choke with a 4 run lead as he is with a 1 run lead.

Phillies LOSE to Colorado 11-2. As much as we agonize over our team, can you imagine how much it must suck to be a Faillies fan?
Oh well, I'm still looking forward to the day when our rebuild catches up to theirs......bwahahahahahahaha!!!

Didn't Sanchez have rotator cuff surgery or was it TJ? He was the centerpiece of that Realmuto deal. Alcantara has worked well for him he has been around for 3 yrs now. And Brinson has shown signs of becoming a legit MLB player but he has been so inconsistent - who knows. I see where Garrett Cooper is not playing for them. " to repair a capsular tear and clean out the back side of his right shoulder,"
Whatever that means, but it doesn't sound as serious as some shoulder issues. He's going to be a #1 or #2 and he'll be ready for next season.
I will wish (Sanchez) him well when he is not pitching vs the Braves Just hate to see so many talented young pitchers have this arm problems so early in their careers. We have been through that over the yrs, it really stung in that Hanson, Beachy and Medlin generation of pitchers we had back in the late 2000;s, early 10;s That should have been a stud big three - and I guess you can add Johnny Venters to that list in that era for careers cut short due to injury - Jurrjens too. Other teams go through it. We better take care of Ian Anderson and monitor him - he is too important not to take care of. And Soroka - hope for the best

I do not know if I will close the book on Alex Jackson due to his recent AAA success but I will not bet the rent money on him
He will get his chances in that org, I am sure ST will be crucial for him - note he is going on 26. He is not a kid.
At least Alex Jackson is in the right organization for him. It might be a good trade not just for us but maybe for them too assuming this and that
But I sure am glad we got Duvall who was the right fit for us. Maybe Jackson might fit in there in time.
We just have two young catchers in the org who are ahead of him so he would not get his chance here I do not think

yup. Dude just cannot get the stick to the ball. Hes young, but that's worse than Corky Miller. Let's give him some time and see how it plays out, he's only had about 130 MLB AB's. Plenty of guys have taken 500, 1000 AB's to start getting big league ball figured out. No one has said they wanted to keep a hold of Alex Jackson because he is great right now, but that's how some want to spin the narrative.

Lots of people tend to lean towards the elevator shaft too soon. One person does it way more than others, but most people just don't have the patience. I wish every one of players could become productive big leaguers right out of the gate too, but it's pretty rare and people just don't want to ride it out. Riley is a perfect example, and all in all, it's amazing what he's actually done for how young he is. People are throwing talented players down the shaft when they're 21, 22 years old. Oh well.

He may yet turn out, but we've been holding out that hope for Newcomb for a long time based on potential, too. Five years from now they could both be established stars, but that's not usually how it works. Catchers and lefty pitchers both get a lot of rope, though.

FWIW, I thought we gave Wilson away. Rodriguez is good, but not as good as I thought he was.

I think the verdict is still out on Rodriguez, but he's come in behind Luke on the depth chart from the git go, and if that was the plan then it wasn't worth giving up Wilson. Adding a good 6th or 7th inning relief pitcher is what a team does when they have a legit chance to win it all. You don't give up a good prospect for a guy you plan on using in the 6th and 7th when you're just going to be whacked in the first round of the playoffs.

I am not sure Wilson is that good a prospect, maybe a middling starter.
He has his ups and downs here - though in fairness he was yo yoed around. I do not think the brass percieved him as a big time piece of the puzzle here.
Its not like he has been lights out in Pittsburgh, he has been fair considering the team he is on, but you can find guys who have a mid 4's ERA. I do not see a CY Young in his future or even an ALL-Star in the near future. Of course you never know what he will be at 30 but that is irrelevant for now and always an unsure thing.
As for Rodriguez - he is under control for two yrs and we will see what his role is next yr and beyond. He has provided more immediate depth to this bullpen for now
Numbers wise what I like about him is his WHIP in the 0.80s
Had we held on to every single prospect or near prospect and been sellers for prospects at the deadline - well, instead of being 4 and a half up would be maybe more than 4 and a half back right now. And yes, that would suck.
Poor Pirates fans it has to suck for them to rebuild and rebuild and save for three yrs from 2013 to 15 have nothing to show for it

Wilson is 23 years old and has 105 innings of big league ball under his belt.
He's started 6 games for the Pirates and 4 of them have been pretty good, with the other two not being disasters.
Now that he has a regular job in the big leagues he's likely to settle in and start getting better.
Did I mention he's only 23 and has only thrown 105 innings in the big leagues?

That was just the 9th win without benefit of a home run this year.

Probably benefitting from pitching coaches who actually know how to refine that kind of raw talent. Would have been nice to have done that here, but it just didnt appear to be happening.
