Until he pitches poorly, Matzek should be made the closer for the stretch run after these two off days. the 17 inning scoreless streak that Matzek is on is good, but not Will Smith level good.

Heredia was just a deer in the headlights. He needs to be replaced When I said last week that he was just a guy, a dime a dozen player with a .670 career OPS you said he was a good player and we should keep him as a bench player.
Oh wait, I forgot, you flip flop from pitch to pitch, that's right!

Perhaps one guy who should be on the firing line is Ron Washington for the mistakes he has made sending too many runners home - he is too aggressive running into valuable outs - it cost him in this game. This is a disgrace being swept by this team at home - they deserve to be Booed The bad times are back Washington has been scaring me with how aggressive he's been sending runners home, but Freeman was safe. And there was enough evidence to overturn that call, but of course it wasn't going to be overturned against the Yankmees.

Gwinnett scores 2 in the top off the 9th to beat Nashville 3-1, including a solo HR from Rosario when it was 1-1. He's on fire. In his last 5 games he's 8 for 23 for 3 HR's and two doubles and 13 RBI. Yes you read that right, 13 RBI in his last 5 games. Jacob Webb closed the game out for the save. He's been really good lately.....not Josh Tomlin level good of course, but still good.
Waters 0-4
Rosario 3-4 solo HR, 2 RBI
Arcia 1-4
Camargo 1-4, RBI in the 9th Pache 0-4
Ian Anderson 5 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 BB, 9 K's and he threw 90 pitches. So he's probably ready.
Even though he was having a down year, Rosario is probably the best player we acquired at the trade deadline. Now that he's ready I'll bet he gets to take Almonte's place and get 1 or 2 AB's a week for the rest of the season. Call it a hunch.
When they call Anderson up, there's only one possible pitcher who can be whacked right? Right???

Has anybody posted this? I hadn't heard about it.
"Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna made a brief appearance in court Tuesday related to his case involving two misdemeanor charges following a domestic violence incident with his wife in May. There was no outcome from Tuesday’s hearing. Ozuna is due back in court Sept. 9, following a discovery date of Aug. 24 and a motions date of Aug. 31.
Ozuna faces charges of battery — family violence and simple assault — family violence.
Last month, prosecutors decided not to charge Ozuna with aggravated-assault strangulation, a felony, following the arrest."
Even though the officers saw him choking his wife. Isn't it convenient how things always work out so wonderfully for people who have a lot of money?
If he's only facing two misdemeanor charges there's no way we're getting out of his contract.

View AttachmentEXCUSABLE to call that out unless the ump has some sort of bias True to form ESPN didn't even mention the call at home or how the pitch hit Joc (or the bat). A thrown baseball doesn't suddenly change directions. The replay clearly showed that it hit either Joc or the bat.......but it's the Yankees.

Webb is probably going to have to go somewhere else to get his real legit chance to stay on a MLB roster. Not that I don't think he should be given a shot here but the powers that be keep other people around for whatever reason. Like Newcomb, and Tomlin. Tomlin getting whacked? I believe if if I see it And to respond about Heredia, he is a good defender who can be serviceable on the bench but he has played too much this yr - right now his bat is useless. If he does not get better he too should face the whack. Who do you whack, Almonte or Heredia. That is a fair question I am glad we have two days off after these last 2 nights. I will never get over these two games. I am still not over the 96 WS and never will be. I have been in a rotten mood these last couple of days and this will carry over for a while. Losing to that team - makes me want to do away with interleague play

My guess is there will be a suspension of some kind - a stiff one. They might get out of it for one yr, but that is just a guess. I am sure they do not have to pay him when he is under suspension or am I wrong? Stay tuned - does not look good for us

We can do better than that for the bench, but I do understand with Acuna being out having Heredia around for his defense. You know who is a good CF? Marte! Marte is a 4.7 WAR player right now, 7th best in all of baseball. We really screwed up not grabbing him when he got traded to Miami because they gave up almost nothing and didn’t have to pay Marte much.

What a crock.Rich people and their privilege suck. I don’t think we pay him if he’s suspended but we’ll be stuck with him or his salary for most of three years now. I’ll never root for that bastard again and I don’t want to see him in a Braves uniform. He might fix his temper now but that takes an extended period of time to prove, more than three years IMO.

That sucks, but we have to see how it all plays out. I do not know if MLB needs a court of law judgement or conviction to issue a major suspension. The NFL suspends and disciplines no matter what - not sure if Rob Manfred would pull a Roger Goodell - he sure has screwed us a couple of times for non court of law issues (Coppygate losing all those prospects and of course the All Star Game) And as for Marte well, yea you are speaking to the choir in that case - most everyone here would have liked to get him. And I am sure we could have offered Miami more than Oakland gave up

He'll be held to account about as much as umpires are. That home plate ump last night screwed the Braves 6 ways to Sunday and you'll never hear a peep about it, just like Ozuna will get off with a slap on the wrist and about $50 million.
