What can we get for Morton and Smyly in one trade? You know somebody would like to have them both. I'm nuts for even thinking that I guess. Whomever does not get Scherzer - they will be viable arms for a contender. Morton is better, I would hate to see him get his 15th or 16th win somewhere else but if a team really wants to make a good offer got to keep an open mind I just do not want another struggling young pitcher who cannot throw strikes. Been through enough of that Or, someone's meh Class B prospect who becomes nothing more than a bench player. I want something close to major league ready no ETA later than 2023. Preferably next yr

Hope Smyly pitches a gem tomorrow. Would love to get a fairly decent return for him and Morton by Friday.

I have a funny feeling we aren't selling off anybody even after we lose on Thursday.

Hope Smyly pitches a gem tomorrow. Would love to get a fairly decent return for him and Morton by Friday. That'll just keep the hope alive, and we will hang onto them with the notion that d'Arnaud will soon be back, and Ynoa as well to bolster our bullpen. I always want us to win, but that's the reality of what will happen unless the offer is crazy good... and no one is going to go crazy for Smyly.

Discussions about masks and mandates will probably be a hot topic over the next few weeks. As this tread will soon be archived, I moved all those posts to a new tread in the politics/current events forum. Understood and I apologize for the rants, but when they start telling fans they can't attend games in the next week or two I'm going to pitch a bitch everywhere! The it becomes baseball discussion.

I have a funny feeling we aren't selling off anybody even after we lose on Thursday. I think they are banking on making up the ground with an easier August schedule. Even if they make up some or all of the deficit, the team constructed as it currently is has little chance to advance IMO.

I have gotten attached to Morton, I would hate to move him
Smyly I do not care as much. At least if one or both are moved there are young guys from within whom we have hoped for that just might be ready to step in
Wilson needs a chance and Wright just might make a turnaround. Wright has done better as of late in AAA
Minter just might be the Minter of last year he seems to have worked on what he needed to in Gwinett
I would like Morton around on a two yr deal.
Whatever you do, do not move Freddie
I do want the team to remain competitive no matter what.
I want D Arnaud and Ynoa healthy and right

Time to blow it up. Frustrating we can’t get over the hump.

All we have to do is win on Thursday and we're just one game away from .500.

To really put things into perspective as to how brutally bad the Braves are in the 7th inning onward, Here are some tallies and league ranking
Runs:29 (last)
RBI: 24 (last)
BB: 45 (16th)
K: 106 (16th)
OBP: .292 (last)
SLG: .289 (last)
AVG: .189 (last)
HR: 9 (22nd)
2B: 8 (29th)
3B: 0 (T-21st)
I ain't even sure the rebuild teams were that inept across the board in the late innings. As you can see, even the almighty power the Braves live by takes a nose dive from.the 7th inning onward. And this is all factoring in before Acuña got hurt.
If they havent got a lead through 6 innings, you might as well turn the TV off. And of course given the state of the pen, even when they DO have a lead after 6, its hardly a guarantee to hold.
Honestly, this team is worse than what their rec team rd shows. A lot worse. Starting pitching has been the only thing keeping them even near surface of the water.
Offense that putrid coupled with a terrible bullpen is a perfect recipe for this team to bottom out. Unless d'Arnaud's return makes a big difference, 70 wins could be the end mark by the time this year is mercifully done.
Goes without saying an outfield of Almonte, Heredia, Arcia, and a catcher who literally cant hit just is not going to parlay success.

If they're banking on making up ground in August, one has to wonder...........do they even watch the games?

Time to blow it up. Frustrating we can’t get over the hump. No it's not. Blow it up means sell off all your vets and start a rebuild.. That is kooky talk.
