There are teams who have bad contracts who would be willing to take a chance with Ozuna. The thing is we would be getting a high paid player who isn’t that good. But at some point you have to do whatever you can. I only see this happening if he keeps hitting so poorly AND there’s an issue between teammates. For all we know there may not be, the players could be totally supportive of him.

There would be no need to send anyone down position player wise. We are currently only carrying 12 position players but in a week, the rosters are supposed to go back to a maximum of 13 pitchers. There will be room for both Eddie and Harris. The issue will be playing time. Ideally, you platoon Rosario and Duvall in LF and keep things pretty much the way they are. I would definitely keep MH in CF at any cost ..I would not platoon Eddie with Duvall but we all know, until he gets his legs under him, he’ll be used cautiously. Down the road I would let Duv and Ozuna compete for the DH …a little incentive wouldn’t hurt. If someone has to go let it be Heredia or Arcia …is he still here?? Unless Anthopolous is successful at finding trade bait with another bad contract. I feel sure the Ozuna thing has been on his mind since the OS.

Arcia is the only backup IF so he’s not going anywhere. Again, we could potentially have a bench of Contreras, Arcia, Duvall and Heredia when Eddie comes back. The problem again is trying to find enough at bats for Contreras. It would be nice if we could find a pitcher with a bad contract and be able to swap out Ozuna for him. Then, we wouldn’t have yet another guy who would need at bats. The only one I can think of is Bumgarner, but not sure if the Snakes would be interested or who would get bumped from the rotation. That Ozuna deal could end up being a real albatross around our necks.

I don’t expect Contreras to be an issue, Snitker is willing to sit certain guys even when they’re hitting. So as soon as Contreras cools off he’ll stop DHing him and he’ll just catch every third day. He might even get to that point even if he keeps hitting.
Jason Heyward and David Price were two trade options I recall over the winter and there are others. It kind of sucks that the Cubs suck because it may limit their willingness to make that deal. The nice thing is with Heyward we’re out of the mess a year earlier and Price we would be done at the end of this year. But I think those made more sense in the off-season. MadBum is one but like you said the D-backs may not be interested. There’s others but I’m not going to dig into because for now it’s all just a fairytale.

Does MLB need to consider making a rule about position players pitching? It's getting to be a bit of a travesty to say the least........

We're paying Harris nothing, so when Rosario is back, we could just release Ozuna. While obviously not ideal, it would definitely be feasible. We're paying him for nothing now, so what's really the difference?

At what point do you draw the line on a guy—certain players get longer leashes, and of course he will with that contract, but we’re coming up on a year and a half of dead weight. He has a -1.3 WAR for this contract period, and it would be way worse if he played in the field every day instead of DHing half the time. We won it all last year without him and I see nothing in him that indicates he’s a winner. At some point you accept your monetary loss and move on. He should have been moved in the off-season for anything while other teams may have still had some hope he could be productive. Now you have to just accept this didn’t work and give it up. Even if it means just benching him, especially when you have other very productive hitters who can take his place. Even Heredia barreled up a bunch of balls recently.

How could he have been "trying that play all year"? I've seen entire seasons of Braves baseball where an opportunity like that never occurred. That announcer acted like you get a chance to do that every game.

Mets Place Tylor Megill On 15-Day IL Due To Shoulder Strain www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/06/mets-place-tylor-megill-on-15-day-il-due-to-shoulder-strain.html"Megill will be shut down for the next four weeks, and the team will then re-evaluate his status. While the situation is still somewhat fluid, this lengthy shutdown period will likely require a pretty notable ramp-up period afterwards, so it looks like Megill could miss the better part of two months. A move to the 60-day IL could eventually be possible, depending on New York’s 40-man roster needs and when more details are known about Megill’s status."

There are 3 things you can count on in life; death, taxes, and the Mets crumbling due to injuries.
