Guys usually stand in the back or try to get people to hold them back then act like they're going to go crazy once they're being held, Winker said fugg all that he was willing to fight the entire Angels team!

God, I love basebrawls! I do too, especially when there's some actual action!
What usually happens is guys wait until they are being held back and start acting like they're going to kill somebody, or they just stand in the back and yell. I hate when guys vag out like that. I never liked Chris Johnson anyway, but this right here was the biggest vag move I've ever seen in one of these--just watch him the whole time--he came charging to the plate from third base like he was going to take somebody's head off, and he had a clear path to Fernandez and chose to find a way to avoid that, then hopped around in the back yelling like a bitch the whole time. The irony now is when you watch this HR, you see worse gloating and hot dogging on almost every HR hit in the big leagues nowadays.

From the AJC:
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the negotiations between Freeman and the Braves reached a head March 12, when Close went to Anthopoulos with an ultimatum. He told the Braves that there were two different contracts the club could choose to offer Freeman. The Braves, the agency said, had one hour to decide which one they would offer. Those two proposals: five years for $165 million or six years for $175 million. Excel told the Braves that it wanted to resolve Freeman’s free agency by the end of that
From $140mil to $165mil …that’s some ballsy ultimatum!

Also per AJC:
Swanson has said he will never leave Excel Agency …although there was no context given or even when he said this. FWIW

Yet he ended up accepting a contract worth overall less money when you factor in the deferrals and state of California taxes.
Good job, Mr. Agent Guy

I think that's been public knowledge all along, and given that, nobody can point the finger at the Braves.
The funny thing is with deferred money and CA taxes, Fredtard is going to make about the same thing in 6 years as he would have if he had signed our $140M offer for 5 years. Plus he would have had a salary to add for the next next after the five year contract was up, so he actually got less money with the deal he signed. Everybody made a big deal out of how he "won" because he got that 6th year in his deal, lol.......

We know he lost. AA knows he lost. Most importantly, Freeman knows he lost.
Play stupid games... win stupid prizes.

Good job, Mr. Agent Guy Plus, I don't know if I just explained it well enough or not, he got less for 6 years than he would have with us for 5 years. So if he had signed with us and didn't regress a lot, he could have gotten another $15M or so tacked on after his 5th year was up with us.
Brilliant. Math is hard.

No you explained it quite well. As you explained... now he gets one more year to show regression before seeking the final contract of his career, and that will probably a one year deal with an option at best.
Maybe if he's still hitting a bit we can give him a year at $14m to be our DH so he can retire a Brave.

I could see it happening, but I'd rather see him homeless and living on the streets in LA at that point.
