Where's the guy who is so sick of him?
Oh yeah......
In his last 12 games Ozzie is 18 for his last 45 with 6 doubles, 3 home runs, 18 RBI and 3 stolen bases.
Just in his last 5 games he's 10-19 with 5 doubles and 9 RBI.
This is the 5th consecutive game he's had one double.
I'M SO SICK OF HIM TOO!!!
It's me and yes I can't stand some of his stupid antics,,, like it or not. I'm still gonna root for him though. He could be so much better than he is, there's no doubt about that. He could take more walks and use his legs to score runs. It's a shame, really. Kid could be an MVP type player, but he insists on swinging at everything.

But you have to look at the overall picture, he's been raking for almost a month now. He just has a lot of bad ABs even when he's hot. It's who he is. I still get momentarily pissed off at him, but when you see what he's actually done lately you have to consider all of it.

It's also possible if we asked him to try to think while he's in the box it would screw him all up. He's obviously one of the dumbest hitters to ever play the game, but somehow he still makes things work often enough to put up good numbers. You're right in theory, but I'd almost be scared to mess with the whole thing. He's like a pitcher who is effectively wild. The only pattern I've seen to getting him out is high heat. He sees a lot of that, balls 4-6 inches above the strike zone, and he swings and misses every single one of them. I'm really surprised pitchers ever throw him anything else. I guess they think they're throwing waste pitches to set him up, but there's no such thing as a waste pitch to him, and he does even get a lot of hits off of terrible pitches.

That's all true about the big picture with Albies, but I look at game threads as the place where everyone reacts emotionally and in the moment. It's easy to get extremely frustrated with him in that regard.
When you sit around after the game thinking rationally you see the bigger picture.

Oh I totally get it, I sit there and call him names and shake my head all the time just like everybody else.
If you think about it, it's a completely unexplainable miracle that he does as well as he does when you look at the pitches he swings at every day. Conventional wisdom tells you this guys gets himself out a LOT, and there's nothing that would logically explain how in the heck he does manage to put up the numbers he does.

What kills me more than what he swings at, is often WHEN he swings at them.
if he could just fix that it would go along way to killing my frustration.

Maybe there's something to the "it's the only way he knows how to hit" theory. It seems to me though, that anybody that can hit using such a boneheaded approach must have some very rare talent. With GAPOZ, it's his hands, IMO. He has huge, quick hands for a man his size. I think if he'd sharpen his approach, he could put up impressive numbers. I'm talking .300/.400/.500/.900 type numbers with 40 steals and 100 runs scored consistently. I find it hard to buy into the "I'm a dumbass that can only hit like a dumbass" theory.

I believe that some coaching from the main manager, Snit, might help. By coaching, I mean, a direct order. When Albies has a count of 3-0, Albies should never, never, never get the green light. He takes the green light as, "thou shalt swingeth at next pitch". Also he needs to be told, "look, the pitcher has thrown 10 balls out of the last 11 pitches ,,,, take some pitches; do not swing until I tell you it's ok to swing.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but it might take something like that. You don't want to completely take away his aggressiveness. What I don't understand is how guys that play don't understand situations. Baseball is a game of constant situations. Our entire team seems to lack this fundamental concept, not just GAPOZ. It's why we practically always lose these newfangled extra inning games. IMO. Bases loaded less than 2 out? Try and make the pitcher elevate the ball. Pitcher just walked 2 straight? Don't ambush, make him throw a strike. The pressure is on the pitcher......keep it on him! I could go on, but there's no need. There are arguments on both sides, but I've always believed in situational play. Ozzie seems to have no idea about this. Drives me nuts.

I don't think it takes away from his aggressiveness at all to say "DO NOT SWING UNTIL HE THROWS 1 STRIKE" when the situation is we need base runners.

Baseball has gone so far away from fundamentals it’s ridiculous. There’s a belief now that you get one great perfect hittable pitch per AB on average. So they’re ok with guys swinging because they don’t want them to end up taking that one golden perfect pitch. It’s nuts. It’s like the universal “go on contact” play now when there’s a runner on third no matter what the situation. If it’s hit in the ground run. Usually it’s an easy stupid out, for no reason.

I appreciate that thought, hey I have been sort of saying the same thing but not as well as that statement. The launch angle, extreme shift, the idea that a strikeout is just another out and other thoughts is what has taken baseball away from much of the roots of its fundamentals. I wonder if Dansby came up a generation ago if he would be as streaky as he is. And Ozzie, it would have been accepted if he hit .300 with a .360 OPP and a dozen HRS with more use of his speed and he would be an All Star with those numbers. I think the perfect era for Ozzie would have been playing for those Whitey Herzog Cardinals. And he would still have some pop with 40 - 50 stolen bases The lifelong baseball man has been forced out of the game & who the H is thinking up the game as we know it now.
