I hope we don't burn though our entire pen tonight. Honestly... this strategy of how to use the pen tonight and what that does moving forward if the series continues requires some careful thought, and I'm not sure that is Snit's strong point. I don't know that managing a bullpen for 7 stressful games in 7 days is anybody's strong point. I get what you're saying, but this stupid scheduling is unprecedented, at least as far as I know. COVID or no COVID, it's insane.

If we’re going to do a true bullpen game, I would start out with some fashion of Minter and Webb through the first couple of innings, see where things are and then, go to Wright and maybe an inning or so out of Ynoa. I would steer clear of Tomlin and Dayton. We could probably squeeze an inning out of Matzek, too. I agree with that, but I don't think there's any way Ynoa can pitch tonight. I still don't understand why we burned him in a lost cause the other night. I honestly would have used Culberson, Sandoval and Camargo and let the Dodgers score 200 runs before I would have let Ynoa throw one pitch in game 3. To me Ynoa was our guy for tonight, but oh well. I think we could get an inning out of Matzek, and Greene has said he likes to pitch every day and wants to, so maybe we get at least one inning from him, two if they go quickly. There's just no way to put it together without thinking that Wright will have to give us maybe 4 innings for us to have any chance to win this game.
I just hope Snitker doesn't let the game get away early if someone is getting murdered out there and lets them stay out there until they've given up 6-8 runs. If it happens mid game or later then it is what it is, but please don't just let Minter or Webb get bombed and leave them out there no matter what. This shouldn't be viewed as a throwaway game before it starts.

Maybe let minter go 2 innings and bring Wright in to face the bittom.third of their order and see how he handles that. If he pitches well, give him another inning on a short leash. If he could go 3 innings, that would be big. This actually may not be a bad line of thinking, because was the last game just a game that spun out of control, or will wright be the one that pitched the previous 3 or 4 games. Get him a couple of easier outs in the bottom of that lineup and maybe that be enough to get him confidence. Of course the downfall is if Wright is not, then do you take a chance to burn a 3rd pitcher in 2-3 innings, or just leave Wright in there to take lumps to save bullpen innings.

FWIW, Minter has never gone 2 innings in his entire career. Most is 1.2.

Why couldn't you have put the normal off days in where the normal travel days go. So the season gets done 2 days later. The last game would still be played in October. Its unfair to all teams involved. The problem is someone though hey, we don't need off days since there is no travel, it be like a regular season. Of course not thinking these regular season games dont have the stress of these games

I don’t like any of it.

Dustin May RHP 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 6 SO With the Dodgers' season hanging in the balance, the 23-year-old flamethrower will be tasked with containing a Braves offense that scored 10 runs in Game 4. May has held his own in limited postseason action so far, making three appearances and delivering 4 2/3 scoreless innings that featured two walks and six strikeouts. He's only faced the Braves once in his young career, giving up four runs over two relief innings in a 5-3 Dodgers loss in Atlanta on Aug. 18, 2019.
vs
A.J. Minter & others LHP 1-0, 3.86 ERA, 3 SO Minter will be making his first career start as the Braves plan to go with a bullpen game. The former closer posted a 0.83 ERA over 22 appearances this year. By using a lefty to begin the game, the Braves are attempting to create an optimal matchup against leadoff hitter Mookie Betts and three-hole hitter Justin Turner, who both had trouble against lefties this year.

Hope this doesn't turn into a throwaway game with us banking on being able to automatically take game 6 or 7 with Fried or Anderson.
Win it tonight, men.
