Dustin May RHP 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 6 SO With the Dodgers' season hanging in the balance, the 23-year-old flamethrower will be tasked with containing a Braves offense that scored 10 runs in Game 4. May has held his own in limited postseason action so far, making three appearances and delivering 4 2/3 scoreless innings that featured two walks and six strikeouts. He's only faced the Braves once in his young career, giving up four runs over two relief innings in a 5-3 Dodgers loss in Atlanta on Aug. 18, 2019.
vs
A.J. Minter LHP 1-0, 3.86 ERA, 3 SO Minter will be making his first career start as the Braves plan to go with a bullpen game. The former closer posted a 0.83 ERA over 22 appearances this year. By using a lefty to begin the game, the Braves are attempting to create an optimal matchup against leadoff hitter Mookie Betts and three-hole hitter Justin Turner, who both had trouble against lefties this year.

Again, this 7 games in 7 days arrangement is ridiculous. We shouldn't be at a point where neither side knows who to pitch in Game 5. If you look at our roster, Tomlin is pretty much the only option, and you just have to hope he can get through 4 or 5 innings without getting us hopelessly behind. I really don't know why the owners wanted this or why the players agreed to it. That said, go Bravos!

Well if we had saved Tomlin and used him in the blowout game, we could be starting Ynoa who had more success as a starter.

I'll tell you something. Watching the unadulterated JOY that Acuña displays when things are going well is one of the things that I love about this team. It's like a 10-year-old kid is over there in our dugout. Yeah, he's got some growing up to do, but he's already done some. For one, he's been flying down that first base line all season. I realize that this cuts both ways with him, but when things are going well, watching him is almost as fun as watching the game......almost. He can play a little, too.

Just say no to Tomlin. The guy has gotten rocked the last 12 times he’s pitched. I’m not exaggerating. It’s a certainty he will again.

If we’re going to do a true bullpen game, I would start out with some fashion of Minter and Webb through the first couple of innings, see where things are and then, go to Wright and maybe an inning or so out of Ynoa. I would steer clear of Tomlin and Dayton. We could probably squeeze an inning out of Matzek, too.

Maybe let minter go 2 innings and bring Wright in to face the bittom.third of their order and see how he handles that. If he pitches well, give him another inning on a short leash. If he could go 3 innings, that would be big.

I hope we don't burn though our entire pen tonight.
Honestly... this strategy of how to use the pen tonight and what that does moving forward if the series continues requires some careful thought, and I'm not sure that is Snit's strong point.

If he could go 3 innings, that would be big. As I said in the other tread before Minter was announced, a lot of people that seem to always be right about these things think Minter starts and goes 1 inning only. Wright is commonly thought to be next up. No idea if it is right or not but they were right about Minter starting.
