Time to get Dansby away from the top of the lineup.
I don't know who should hit 1 and 2, but he needs to be moved down where he hits better. His career numbers in the 1 and 2 spots are abysmal.
We've killed his mojo every time we've moved him up, I don't know how many times we have to go through this before we stop doing it.
Snit can't seem to wait to put people in positions where they historically do poorly.

I give them credit for not quitting and trying to come back both tonight and last night
But to really compete, Alex has to get at least one if not two serviceable veteran SP's who can keep the team in the game and eat some innings with average effectiveness
Who that is I don't know cause making a trade will not be easy this yr
But remember last yr when Alex pulled the rabbit out of the hat and bolstered the pen that was the weak link last yr. Those guys are still around
In Alex I trust

That's what happens when you ruin all these young guys arms and strive for ultimate velocity on every pitch. It's what makes me believe there will be a movement back to teaching guys to pitch again and stretching their arms out to be healthier.

Too soon to say this team can't compete this year? Yes I think when we were 2-3 you posted that we just needed to accept that we were not good, then we went 7-2 on the homestand. We certainly have some issues as do many teams, but it's a wee bit early to say we can't compete. the starting pitching took a basically fatal blow when Soroka went down. There is nobody behind Fried, literally Noone. Opt outs and injuries didnt help, but these young guys filling in have been utter duds to this point. They cannot compete with just Fried as their only reliable starter imo.

Just who the $#%^ came up with the idea of pitching development in the way its done today? Its hard to believe this has come from real baseball people that have given their lives to the game, when did the game get to this Wish there was a scathing book written about it and exposed with no holes barred. Who the H are they listening to? At this time I put the blame on these nerdy IVY League numbers executives who are in the position of power to make decisions how the game is run People like Chaim Bloom is one example, he is a fool in my book. Note I do follow the Red Sox and Boston teams as you probably know

Maddux and Glavine would probably be trade bait today instead of Hall of Famers. True story.

In my opinion, from what I see this day in time, Maddux and Glavine would not even get a look from MLB scouts in this century. They would not have the fastball. I don't think either one threw in the 90's consistently. They were not that big size wise either. Glavine was in the mid to high 80's. Not sure about Maddux. Analytics as we know it today has hurt pitching as we once knew it - Is there any team out there other than maybe Cleveland that really develops young starters? STL maybe. Not sure maybe some of you know and have done more research than me

Analytics as we know it today has hurt pitching as we once knew it - Is there any team out there other than maybe Cleveland that really develops young starters? STL maybe. Not sure maybe some of you know and have done more research than me The Cardinals have had troubles too, Flaherty is about the only one of theirs flourishing and they've had a LOT of good young pitching prospects.
Another one of our flops that hurts and surprised me was Gohara. That guy definitely had major league ready stuff, it was only a matter of time, and then he just fell off the face of the Earth.
I don't think analytics is to blame at all for teams wanting to get these kids throwing 95+ on every pitch. It just became the philosophy. Analytics is to be used only as a guide, not to actually manage by. I don't think anyone tries, so I don't think it's to blame for anything. We saw what a disaster Classless Dick had when he tried. But using analytics to give you valuable info to help you make SOME decisions is very helpful and mandatory in todays game. One of my biggest gripes with Snitker is that he completely ignores advanced stats, and you can't do that. When you do, you are setting yourself up for certain failure in areas that you could avoid if you'd just look at some damned numbers and educate yourself a little bit.
