I am posting this on 10/10/19. Yesterday I witnessed in person a 13-1 shellacking to the Cardinals to embarrasingly end the season---at Suntrust Park. At this point, I am still quite bitter on how 2019 season ended. As of this writing, McCann just retired. I am curious about what the Braves intended on doing with Josh Donaldson, Keuchel, Markakis, the catcher position, and quite literally 6-7 other guys. It hopefully will be a good winter.

I suppose this is one way to try and erase this very very bitter end to the season. I was on a cruise when the Braves got humiliated at home. Good for McCann. Great guy and player. Hope he enjoys his retirement. As for JD, and Dallas, I hope we can keep JD but I don't feel we should keep Dallas unless he takes a huge pay cut. I still like Markakis but would like to see a lot of the pen gone and some other players. I'll get to those later.

No more Markakis! Enough is enough. He's an aging, average player. It's time to move on. I'm not hellbent on keeping Badhaircut, either. He's gonna get a big number, and he's a huge injury risk. IMO. I'm admittedly not confident in Riley, though, so we should at least consider it.

The guy gets timely hits all the time but just like other players, needs to be rested. I'd try and go year-by-year contracts with him. JD is probably going to be priced out of our budget but if not, I'd take another shot at him, easily. The guy is a vaccuum cleaner at third and maybe we lucked out, but injuries were not a factor this year. Riley may end up as trade bait if he doesn't shape up.

Nick is very consistently very average at best. And he’s not a good outfielder on defense. He had a terrible time with lefties this year, he does not have good high leverage numbers and he had a .720 OPS with RISP and .730 OPS with RISP and two outs. He was a 0.4 WAR player this year. Hell Joyce was a 1.2 in half as many ABs and is way better defensively. Nick has averaged a 1.3 WAR over his last seven seasons, and he’s gone belly up in the playoffs two years later n a row. We need to move on from him, but given our teams love for him we probably won’t. And I will throw up. We can do so much better so easily. Joyce or Camargo out there would be huge improvements, or bring in somebody from the outside. Or rely on Pache or Waters to be ready. Just no more Nick, extra pretty please.

vs. RHP - Acuna in LF, Inciarte in CF, and Joyce in RF vs. LHP - Duvall in LF, Inciarte in CF, and Acuna in RF
Nick served his purpose, time to move on

BillShanks @billshanks The fact that Freddie Freeman is cleared to play is outstanding. But I've been told there is a GREAT chance he will be ready to play next Friday on Opening Day. Holy crap that lineup could be really, really good.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl Freddie Freeman and Touki Toussaint both have passed the protocols including two COVID-19 negative tests and been cleared to rejoin the team.

I'd prefer he remain other teams enigma for the rest of his career.

I honestly would have been thrilled if we had just signed Matt Joyce again and let Nick and Pweeg and all others go.
Joyce was really solid for us on both sides of the ball and would have been a nice bridge to Pache and Waters.
But Matt was never mentioned once, ever, about being signed by us for this year. Kind of mind boggling.
Our current management seems to be drawn a bit to shiny and/or expensive objects, like casual fans are.......oh, that Pweeg guy he could really have potential! Ozuna could have potential! etc etc etc....
The one yuge upside to Pweeg was that it kept Ozuna out of the outfield. It won't be so easy to do that now. I read the other day that Ozuna ranked 163rd out of 177 qualifying OFers defensively last year. Yuck.

I was fully onboard the Joyce train, but yes; apparently out management believes we have to have one of those names that carries with it some sort of national star power or has been lauded about potential.

I could understand if we didn't have......Acuna.....Albies.....Freeman......and a bunch of real good high ceiling other players on board and a stellar pitching crew, but we do. Our pen is pretty stout now and our starting pitching has a really high upside. I don't know what was wrong with plugging Joyce in for another steady season of production, but it is what it is. Joyce had a better WAR last year than even Puig, in one third of the AB's, but what do I know!!!
