.125 Freeman .133 Badhaircut .177 Neck .111 Joyce .154 McCann That's how to lead, veteran presents! Just goes to show you that anyone can get hot or cold in a short series. True, but how in the hell could they ALL check out at the same time?

Oh, I'll have sneakers on, too. And, a beer or two. And let me guess, you'll be the guy doing the Chop! Yes. Right handed, too.

So far in this series:
Marcell Ozuna 8 for 17 with 3 doubles, 2 HRs
Paul Goldschmidt 7 for 16 with 4 doubles and 2 HRs ------------------------------------------------------------------- Freeman 2 for 16 0 doubles 1 HR
JD 2 for 15 1 double 0 HR
Nick 3 for 17 1 double 0 HR (the double was the grounder that bounced over Goldschmidt's head)
McCann 2 for 13 1 double 0 HR
Joyce 1 for 9 0 doubles 0 HRs ------------------------------------------------------------------------
So in 33 AB's their two guys have 15 hits, 7 doubles and 4 HRs
in 70 ABs our 5 guys have 10 hits, 3 doubles and 1 HR
This isn't all of the fumbduckery that has gone on in this series, but it's a huge chunk of the problem.

Wow. Even though we are on the verge of losing our tenth straight playoff series, the Twins have lost their last 16 playoff games. That almost makes me feel not as bad about our postseason ineptitude. Almost.

That sucks for the Twins but it doesn’t make me feel any better.
This is the 5th time we’ve played the Cardinals in the playoffs, we’re 1-3 in those series so far. I can’t accept 1-4.

I know we are the more talented team, but with our history, I’m preparing myself for a letdown. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

That's why I'm so disappointed in our utter failure to execute basic things, especially our veterans. Leaving Acuña stranded not once, but twice, is inexcusable. A little "small ball" right there and we score him at least once, probably twice, but baseball has abandoned those basic principles of the game. I guess it's not manly enough to bunt a guy over or execute a squeeze play, even in a playoff game with an opportunity to advance. Like HMF has said numerous times, you can always count on the Braves doing something stupid to lose, and that's exactly what happened yesterday. If we lose this series, you need look no further than that. IMO

This is really very simple... even more simple than a failure to play small ball or anything else.
Our lineup should have been able to outscore these guys in at least 3 of 4 if not all 4 games, but the middle of our order has layed a big fat egg for the majority of the series.
Freeman is obviously hurting no matter what he has said about feeling good. He's been a completely different player since he dove to his left late in the season and left a game due to his elbow.
Haircut has been streaky and has no one hitting behind him... Markakis is being Markakis (a professional hitter until you really need a hit in October), and McCann looks old and warn out.
That's it... right there. Maybe Snit could have squeezed... maybe he could pinch hit for Markakis, but I have never expected this team to cleverly "manage" it's way to a victory. Those baseball player-guys have to deliver something or we have to hold them to about 2 runs.

When it's all said and done, this latest in a long line of Braves postseaston failures will come down to three things: (1) the loss of Martin which hurt the team's chances of winning Game 1 and threw the pen out of whack (2) the unbelievable luck of the Cardinals and all of their bloops. Aside from the HR's, they have not had a hard hit all series. (3) The atrocious hitting of Freeman and Donaldson.
Without those, we would have won this series easily.

Freeman is lying about his elbow, I have very little doubt about that. That said, he didn't do anything last year, either.......1 big ol' RBI against the Dodgers. Maybe he's just not a postseason player. I'll say this, too. If I'm GAPOZ and I see Acuna standing at third with nobody out in that situation, I'm laying that sucker down to get him in, because he knows nobody behind him is getting it done right now. You HAVE to have that run. Yeah, I know bunting is for pussies, and yeah I know that GAPOZ hasn't bunted much, blah, blah, blah. I couldn't care less about that. In that situation, I am by god laying it down and getting Acuna across that plate come hell or high water. If it fails, it fails..............but it wouldn't have failed.

Yeah, we're the Buffalo Bills of baseball, save the one World Series title in '95 which seems like 1,000 years ago. It's always something.

What is bad is we have to have Folty pitch 7scoreless again and I just don't think it can happen and the way our guys are hitting there ace may throw 9 scoreless.

Despite the trend of close games in this series, I see this one being over fairly quickly tomorrow. Cards will get some early runs, Flaherty will dominate and we will again witness what has become a staple of Braves baseball ... watching a team advance and celebrate on our field.
