David O'Brien @dobrienatl Acuña exited for precautionary reasons with right hip tightness. And just like that, with Freddie out this series and Acuña exiting, both his pursuit of 40-40 and team's chances of having 3 40-homer hitters both looking unlikely at this point with only 4 games left after this.[/quote]
Dear DOB
No one cares about 40HR's when we are talking about guys being healthy for the playoffs.

Yep...
Julio pitches his way out of the playoff rotation. These terrible streaks by this guy is why I have been ready to move on from him for quite awhile.

Riley is really GOOD at STRIKING OUT We can't go into next season counting on him to be our everyday 3rd baseman, can we? Geezus, the poor kid can't hit a lick. He looks like he needs another full year in the minor leagues.

Swarzak is officially off the playoff roster (not that he was ever gonna be on it). Another pathetic performance from him tonight.

I think Julio might be off the 5 game series roster now, but I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see him as the #4 starter in rounds after that. The loyalty thing is really strong.

Thank god we won't have to face the Royals in the playoffs, they are a monster force!

Flaherty has a no hitter through 6 innings in Arizona, they may have a tough call on their hands, he's thrown 84 pitches. He may not be able to go 9 without stretching him out, but they do need to win the game because the Brewers are still within range of them for the division title.
So that ass whipping he's due for, he's still due for that.

We can joke about Flaherty being due for a beating, but here's some reality--in his last 11 starts combined he's averaging:
ERA 0.84 WHIP 0.65 BAA .140 11.2 K's per 9 innings 1.5 BB's per 9 innings 4 hits per 9 innings
And his last 4 starts in July were almost that good, he gave up 4 earned runs in 24 innings.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm rooting for the Brewers to catch the Cardinals. It's true we could give Flaherty a whipping, but our offense has had a tendency to roll over at times, so just to be safe I'd rather avoid the hottest pitcher in baseball over the last three months.

You sure can't pitch much better than he's been pitching.
