Per O’Brien
Heard #Braves TV analyst Jeff Francoeur has been picked to be on broadcast team for a Wild Card game and Division Series. Pretty big deal for broadcaster in his first season as team's main analyst. He's come a long way quickly as an an analyst, made major strides this year IMO.
Cheeses, maybe he can go to espn and get out of here......bonus: take Chipstick with him....

The guy does have a surprising amount of baseball knowledge, I always thought he was just a total idiot but it turns out he does have some baseball smarts. But he says a lot of really stupid things and he spends every second sucking up to the Braves players and management. I've never heard any announcer go to such great lengths to be such an over the top homer every single second he's on the air.

I guess the only respected announcers are dead announcers. Geez. I like Frenchy.

Swanson playing like he has the 7 days flying gi's He has to be on the playoff roster, I guess, but he doesn't have to start. Hech has played much better than he has. Surely that matters.

I get the feeling he's been coddled like that all his life. I don't mean to knock the kid, but you can't depend on him to hit at all. We just have to hope that he can get hot in the playoffs somehow. I'm not counting on it though, that's for sure.

I like him, I like his energy and his demeanor and his obvious desire to win and dedication to the organization, but the bottom line is you have to perform, and to me more importantly you have to be consistent. That's a really big thing to me. I don't like guys getting preferential treatment either, and I don't see how anyone can deny that's happened. He's shown some grit and resiliency at times, not signs of a guy who has been coddled, so I don't know, I'm in between on that one.....I do also get the impression he has been coddled all along, but at least he's shown some good signs at times even if he was coddled. But again, that grit and resiliency needs to be consistent.

I don't put much stock in feelings that he has been coddled all his life. He's probably been the best kid on his team all the way up until he was drafted and I doubt he's ever been handed a position he didn't deserve during same noted life.
Heard this when he first began slumping after his initial success. "Oh he's an entitled pretty boy". Heard similar baseless conjecture about JD earlier in the season when some folk resented him. He was ruining the locker-room and was an entitled prima-donna who demanded to bat 2nd in the order to the detriment of the team..
Isn't it enough to just talk about facts about his lack of performance?
I don't know, but I doubt he has been coddled any more than any of these other guys who have been star ball players since they were 9.

Fair enough. None of that matters anyway. Bottom line is that he doesn't produce consistently. First, he was rushed to the majors, then he was hurt, and now he's been hurt again. He hits like a shortstop from 40 years ago, and that won't get it done. I don't know who looks more lost right now, Dansby or Riley. They've both been horrible for the last 2 months. Making the playoffs was great last year, but this team can do more, and we need all hands on deck to take the next step(s).

What you are implying by "hits like a Ss from 40 years ago isn't accurate. He is not a defense only slap hitter. He has stunk since the all-star break but he does have a fair amount of line drive pop and a bit of HR power in his swing.
Hech is hitting out of his zone right now and I am all for starting the guy who deserves to start, but he's been a worse hitter than Dansby for his entire career.

I think a manager should always pay attention to trends, and not just over a few games......but a significant trend is that Dansby has an OPS of .480 for the last two months now, and Hech has an OPS of .883 in 20 games with us. To me 20 games is enough to run with that trend. And it's not like you're giving up anything defensively with him. But we all know this is just useless chatter to even be talking about this.

Do the Braves consider moving him this winter and bringing in a free agent? Iglesias, Gregorius, and Andrus are all free agents. My guess is we continue hoping Dansby can finally turn the corner, especially given the difference in cost. I just hope we're not waiting for something that never happens.
