I'm going to go to bat for this guy again, he's one of those baseball player guys. I wanted him last season, during the offseason, and again now. Supposedly he is available, and he should be, it would be the perfect time for the Royals to move him. The beauty is that he can play the OF, including CF. He hit .300 last year and is doing it again this year, stole 45 bases last year, had a 120 wRC+ last year and 119 this year. OPS .806 last year and .839 this year so far. He was a 5.2 WAR player last year and on a very similar course this season. He can hit 15 HRs in a season, give or take. He's pushing 30 but is signed to a four year deal worth just over $16M total. Ideally he becomes our starting RF now and can play CF, making Ender very expendable right now. Next year it's even more feasible to have this guy around with JD and Nick both gone (and hopefully Ender). There's nothing to not love about this guy.

The guy is really a leadoff hitter, which presents a bit of a conundrum, but I'd be fine with using him and Acuna 1 and 2 in some fashion. The way Dansby has hit for power this year, I'd be in favor of batting Dansby and Riley 5th and 6th. I'd prefer Riley 5th and Dansby 6th, but either one would totally destroy the old school book approach Snit uses, we gotta be sure to alternate lefty/righty hitters all through the lineup. (rolling my eyes). So he's not going to have three RH bats in a row in the middle of the lineup.
If this did push Ender out the door and put Nick on the bench, we'd be top heavy with RH bats. The upside is that our entire lineup would be guys who can still hit both lefties and righties.

As Feinsand puts it, “the Royals will need to be overwhelmed by an offer to trade” Merrifield.

As Feinsand puts it, “the Royals will need to be overwhelmed by an offer to trade” Merrifield. His age is the one factor that should lessen the return, that's what makes him expendable for the Royals. They aren't going to be contenders within the next 3-4 years, so he's a perfect guy to move for a couple of decent prospects/players.

Whitt Merrifield can play for my team anyday
I would offer prospects and young guys, for starters could they bite on Carmago, Allard and Gohara for starters. Would we have to include another pitching prospect like Bryse Wilson, would rather keep Bryse
I do not want to move Anderson and even Kyle Wright should be untouchable for now
Love having Merrifield in a Braves uni. What would it take that would make it sensible
I do not think they would want an older vet like Ender - I know he is not old but cannot see him fitting in their plans.
Would not mind dumping Folty and or Gausman on them but don't think they need that
