For where he was drafted (4th overall) and the stuff he sometimes shows, I would say that he has been an underachiever
Not exactly a total bust but on a grade scale A to F would rate his career between a D+ and C minus
Very mediocre results - this is his second MLB stop and not seeing where he is going to get much better
Not a building block I would want to extend, what is he making, 8, 9 mil per
If so he is not even worth that -- and we see the garbage of a game he has put up today
Can't blame this on the pen this time
I don't trust Gausman in my rotation on a contending team. This is a disgraceful performance today and he deserves to be Booed

Not easy with the DH, those teams and those fields. His numbers were pretty good, a bit better than league average, for an American League pitcher and I would expect them to be somewhat better in the NL. He was very good in the NL last year. In the end I would expect and ERA below 4 and ~3BB/9IP and a K/IP. His biggest problem has always been the HR ball. If he can limit HR's/9IP to 1.2 or 1.3 and keep WHIP between 1.2 and 1.3 he should be an effective 3rd starter.

His back to the baseball card stats are mediocre to poor, the 45-56 record and 4.14 lifetime ERA is nothing to write home about for a guy picked 4th overall in the draft
I would not keep him as part of the building block, he has been around long enough - he had one pretty good yr with the 3.61 ERA and even then he was 9-12. Never has had 200 innings - he has stuff but when will he put it together and have a real legit good MLB season that produces real result driven numbers, like a good W-L, over 200 IP and a very good low 3 or under 3 ERA.
Has had a so so WHIP. Have to get a better pitcher for real post season success
Gausman is an all right starter for a team that has second rate expectations
I don't like his 4.80 ERA and he should be called out for that atrocious performance

Bump - Looks like I am right about Gausman
Please, come on and defend him after last night's debacle
They are going to have to get another SP to replace him if they are serious about this yr, now, the addition of Mad Bum and Will Smith would be worth it. Or, add Grienke - come on Alex, you got the money to spend, you have been deliberate and it has not been a bad thing to date
But Gausy has to be replaced in this rotation and let him go ASAP. He and O Day should not be back next yr
Gausy is an underachiever for where he was drafted and the prospect he should have been

Here we go again, another bad game by Gausman, his ERA is over 6 now
As much as some want to go off on the Donaldson sign, this move has more dead weight in payroll, both Gausman and O Day are useless
I don't know why more people are not observing how disgraceful that Gausman is this year. If the Braves fall short of post season Gausman is one of the big reasons why?
I am guessing that O Day's 9 mil comes off the books at the end of the yr. How useless he has been
