Before we face the fact that our prospects are not that good
For a time it was Chuck Hernandez, we got the new PC now with the same results
Could it be that our prized protected prospects are NOT as good as we were sold that they would be
Before long they will not have any trade value - so much for young pitching being so much currency
Tonight its Newcomb's turn to add to the free passes

It's a mindset. You trust your stuff and don't worry that the batter is going to hurt you. The Braves pitchers just don't do that. They get ahead and then they nibble. Attack, attack, attack.
I believe that a lot of these guys have ML stuff but they are so green that they just don't have it YET where it counts ... between the ears.
But it's painful to watch free pass after free pass. I would honestly rather see a pitcher give up solid hits than just walk the ballpark. That's not competitive baseball. And since I think most of this is mental, I do put some of the blame on the coaching staff. These guys are called upon for a reason ... don't coddle them once they are here. Kick their tails until they get it.

I don't even think it's a matter of nibbling anymore with most of these guys, they seem to have lost complete control of their release points. There all over the place, they aren't even close.

Surprisingly, we aren't even leading the majors in walks, not even that close so far in 2019. Several of the teams ahead of us have played more games, but even the Cubs have walked three more batters than us in the same number of games.

Newcomb has the stuff and the power swing and miss stuff. Too young to give up on for sure, if he ever gets the control watch out here is your top of rotation guy
Hey, it took Nolan Ryan how many yrs to get it -- many do not know his early career w/the Mets and how Sandy Koufax just struggled badly in the Brooklyn Dodger days.
Newk is the one guy who has got to start trusting his stuff
As for Kyle Wright, the stuff seems there but he need experience and last night's weather conditions were not easy for even a vet pitcher, much less a kid making his first start. I thought he did fairly well, but he has much to improve obviously. He needs time
But for Newk, this is a step up year - hope he is up to it.
Sure its early but no one wants to bury themselves starting 0-6 or so. Need a few wins and the 0-3 start is very recoverable. Got to stay around at least close to .500 in the early going

Cubs are out of the gate a little slow, they have Hendricks going tonight and they need a W nearly as much as we do The East and Central for the NL are beasts, no one wants to bury themselves early No one wins in April or May but you can bury yourself and make the season harder than it has to be down the stretch Memorial day is around the time you can sort of separate the contenders vs pretenders

It's not just the Braves. It's an epidemic throughout the game. Baseball has never been a game for those who like a game to move along quickly, but it's become PAINFULLY slow to watch, and walks are just one of the reasons. Last night's game is a perfect example.........TEN, that's 10....YES T.E.N. pitchers were used in an 8-0 game. T E N. It's ridiculous. Let that sink in first, and then add to that the fact that this game was played on April 1st. To summarize, 10 (ten!) pitchers were used in a game that was played on April 1st, and the final score of that game was 8-0. Now........what's wrong with the game??

For one thing these younger generation SP's do not know how to pitch deep into games like they used to Its about pitching development. Is it too much information thrown at the pitchers and coaches? That is a fair question Just play the dam game like it used to be played. And we need a pitch clock, some of these pitchers take 30-45 seconds between pitches. I saw a Mariners game where this relief pitcher Gearron took forever to throw the dam ball, its as if he was trying to psych out the hitters by waiting. That has to go. 20 second clock, if you cannot adjust then get out of the game

To say that young Braves pitchers having trouble throwing strikes is a result of the Braves would be ignoring the wealth of history that shows 99% of all young pitchers have trouble throwing strikes when they’re first called up.
Jose Fernandez, the last great young pitcher, averaged 3 BBs net 9 his rookie year. It’s called gaining experience.

30 walks in 5 games. Ugh. If Leo Mazzone were still here, he'd trot out to the mound and kick these kids in the backside after each walk until they got the message. THROW STRIKES!!!!!
I know pitching is not easy, but these are supposedly the best in the world. Is throwing strikes going the way of making free throws in the NBA where it will just be accepted as a lost art?

The way its going the Braves are not the only team with Walk problems, look at the Cubs -- man they have a pen more brutal than ours
Got to look at the general trend and do more research on the other teams, but these guys this day in time are afraid to pitch to contact
No wonder guys cannot go into the 7th, 8th and 9th, its getting to the point the SP is doing a 5 inning game this day in time
Is 5 IP going to be a "Quality Start"
This is not baseball, don't know what to call it anymore. As the last post said "THROW STRIKES"
Who is coaching up this generation of pitchers, at what level is it to the point guys just stop throwing strikes - its unwatchable sometimes
