Yankees acquire Paxton. They gave up Sheffield, too. Wow, for two years of Paxton. I hope that bites them in the rear end, on both ends of it. Hell, Sheffield might be better than Paxton THIS season.

I get the spin rate argument but Sheffield looks the part of a top end starter. Maybe he’s Julio, we will see. Your argument is the one that scares the heck out me with our prospects. Even if they fall off a cliff fast a la Sonny Gray at least they were incredibly cheap for a while. Plus some success in the majors at a young age gives you a ton of trade leverage.

I’m only going off what people, who know better than I, are saying. I wouldn’t worry about our prospects too much. Most have solid spin rates, especially on their curves. Also, don’t dismiss the Hand FO signing. He was huge for the Astros.

A lot happening, but not for the Braves.......yet. I've got AA kinda figured out, I think. He likes to lie back and see the lay of the land before he makes moves. It's probably a solid strategy.

You can't sit back and see the lay of the land so long that by the time you decide to buy, all the best views are taken.
Just sayin'

He’s in a tough spot and trying to be strategic. If he gave us a 3 year window that didn’t yield a championship with a subsequent rebuild, he’s probably out a job. If he can put together a very competitive team while still having the pieces to reload then he’s looking at a long term gig. The care he has taken thus far is refreshing.

It is a tough spot to be in. All you can do is try to rank your falafels the best you can, decide who's expendable and who isn't, and try to be careful who you bring in. It's a gamble no matter what you do.
