Camargo's HR in the first inning tonight was off a 99.7 mph fastball, the fastest pitch hit for a HR in the big leagues this year.

No idea why we're burning Biddle here in the 9th in a game we're down by 3, but hey, that Snitker guy probably has some inside info that we don't.
Biddle pitched last night, and now tonight, so according to Skit's rule of not pitching three days in a row, Biddle will not be available tomorrow night against the Cubs.

Camargo got robbed of his 4th hit of the game by Wendle to end the game. We finish in second place.
Beeks is the winning pitcher after going three innings and giving up 4 hits and 3 walks....but no runs.

We knew his first half was unsustainable but a lot of his failures are his fault. It’s gotten so bad I’d rather have dansby at the plate.

Ozzie needs to get nuked to the bench for a few games Charlie really should start some games at second base now, but Snitker has come out and said he thinks Charlie is succeeding only because of the role he's being used in. Nevermind that he OPS'd .850 while he started for three months due to injuries. But that Snitker guy probably has some inside info that we don't.

The one silver lining is that I didn't hear once about Newcomb turning it around and becoming a great pitcher this year. Looks like the announcers are finally accepting reality. Yea...I don't think it's gonna happen this year but I wouldn't give up on him yet. Folty also struggled for three years (2015-2017) before this year with an average ERA of around 5 and many more hits than innings pitched. Newcomb still has an ERA under 4, almost a K/IP, and less hits than IP and has the stuff, just needs to put it together and become consistent. He's almost two years younger than Folty. I'm not saying he will eventually be good or great but another year of experience to figure it out may work wonders, especially if he cuts down on the walks. If not there are plenty of pitchers with up sides ready to prove what they can do.

The ups and downs are normal, but swinging at everything isn't. It's a recipe for failure. It's frustrating because we've seen what he can do.

Once a guy shows major league pitchers they don't have to throw him hittable pitches, they won't!

Ozzie hit .293 in March and April He dropped to .266 in May and June He went back up to .304 in July He went down to .255 in August which includes a drop in the order where he doesn't have Freeman protecting him.
The board went from Awesome! in March and April to well we knew he couldn't sustain in May and June to He should be the ASG starter!!! in July to HE SHOULD BE BENCHED!! in August
He's still young and I expect the young player roller coaster to be back on the rise again soon. The one true negative is the ISO which was off the charts in March and April. That ship has sailed.
I also see that some on the bored are back on the Newk is a bust train again, despite his youth. I am surprised we haven't seen the customary POM anger tread yet.
This place is nothing if not consistent!

I just want to say that I was really impressed with the TB Rays. There's an organization getting the most out of what they have. They've got a lineup full of baseball player type guys who hit the ball hard, run the bases aggressively and don't make a lot of mistakes. And they're doing it with only one legitimate starting pitcher. If they were playing anywhere but the AL East they would be headed for the playoffs.

As you have just shown, Oz is doin' alright. He needs to work on being more patient. That's his biggest problem.

True, but I'm still not a fan of the pitcher-by-committee approach. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think that approach is sustainable.
