UP NEXT:
Braves: RHP Anibal Sanchez (1-0, 2.16) had a quality start in his last outing against Washington, allowing two runs on two hits in seven innings, but he didn't figure into the decision.
Dodgers: LHP Alex Wood (1-4, 4.48) had a rough outing in his last start, giving up six runs on five hits and walking three in his last start in Colorado.
TRAINER'S ROOM:
Braves: OF Ronald Acuna (knee, back) hit off a tee and was jogging in Atlanta on Friday. ... RHP Julio Teheran (right thumb bruise) is expected to start throwing in the next day or two.
Dodgers: Hill (blister) will throw a four-inning sim game Saturday. He said he expects to be activated and pitch for the Dodgers next week if all goes well. ... Santana (right rotator cuff strain) was placed on the 10-day disabled list. He had his right arm in a sling. ... INF Justin Turner (soreness left wrist) was not in the lineup for the third time in last four games. He was available to pinch hit Friday. He could return to the lineup Saturday but is scheduled for Sunday. ... Kershaw (back) played catch Friday ... Maeda (right hip strain) threw a bullpen of nearly 40 pitches and could be back in the rotation next week.

I'm beginning to doubt the "stayability" of this team for the first time in a while. Oz has regressed, Ender is having a terrible year, and pitching and 3rd base are again looking like liabilities. Hopefully it's just a normal up and down that all teams go through, but I'm not sure.

Freeman will likely have a few downs because he can be streaky like almost all players, and Nick is likely to have a big swoon. Things could get really brutal if they go cold too. But I think it’s just the team regressing to its normal level. And the SP is getting shakier. Wait until Newk and Folty regress to their norm, and Sanchez most likely too. As great as our two young starters have been I’d be shocked if they can keep this up at his point of their careers. They can both struggle with control and they may become an issue s they get some innings piled up for this season. And then there’s the issues with the bullpen!
I’m just along for the ride. I’m not going to be upset, I thought there was no way we were ready yet. But it’s been fun to win again and next year will be a different story.

That's a spot on analysis of where this team is short term and long term imo. Not quite there yet, have been playing over their heads for awhile and will most likely come down pretty hard. And like you said not a big deal as not much was expected this year so just enjoy the ride.

The good news is that we can load up next year if things fall apart. If we're still in it at the deadline, AA has to be very careful in what he does. Seems like it would almost be better long term to fall out of it, as strange as that sounds, unless he gets an opportunity he can't pass up.

Even if we have some kind of outside shot I would not give up any future pieces of any value just to take some wild shot at this season.

Not like we have any pieces to move. We’ve held onto our should’ve been traded pieces in Viz and Teheran for too long.

Not like we have any pieces to move. We’ve held onto our should’ve been traded pieces in Viz and Teheran for too long. I was talking about prospects. I wouldn't want to move even fringe prospects for some wild goose chase for this season.
And I don't think Teheran or Viz ever had much value anyway. We had stretches where Teheran was worth more to us than anything we could have gotten in return, sometimes he was the only thing we had that was anywhere remotely close to being a legit big league starter. We needed some kind of veteran presents with the flim flam rotation we had for a few years.

Yeah, I don't think we ever got a good offer for Viz or Teheran. If we had, they'd have been dealt.

If you see a guy in a red shirt behind the LF fence, that’s me.

If you see a guy in a red shirt behind the LF fence, that’s me. What's going to be great is if there's some 400lb guy in a red shirt with ice cream all over his face between you and the camera.
