Braves starter Julio Teheran walked Pirela opening the fifth and then was visited for the second time in the game by the team trainer. He then came out with an undisclosed injury. Luiz Gohara came on and allowed six runs and six hits.
Teheran said he bruised his right thumb during his at-bat in the third, when he grounded out.
"I got jammed with it and I couldn't feel the ball in the fifth inning and I wasn't the best," he said. "I kept competing like I used to do but I wasn't my best. I wasn't throwing hard. Then I couldn't feel the ball and I threw four balls that weren't close to the plate."
(What about the fact Julio was tossing his "fastball" in the mid 80's? Once hit 89?)

He never was right last night. Seems fishy. I’ve liked Julio and stuck by him for the most part, but it’s a stank I’m getting tired of smelling.👹

It's looking like this is one trade we should have made and didn't. I like Julio, but it seems his days in the a Braves uniform are numbered.

He should have been taken out in the first IMHO. It was obvious something wasn't right. This is one criticism I have of Snit. Being a player's manager, he gives his players too long a leash at times.

The problem is it’s been a long time since Julio had any real value. We wouldn’t have gotten much for him at any point during the last three years. And with his team friendly contract he was really worth way more to us than anybody else during that period. There were a few times he was really about our only legit big league starter we had, even when he wasn’t doing very well.

I don't get being so harsh because of one outing, especially with what all he just went through the last two weeks.

I’m mad at the Braves. Guy hasn’t thrown in 10+ days, is going through it off the field. Can’t stay in baseball shape, and you activate him on the ML roster?! REALLY? What world does that seem good in?

I'm not sure he's ever been in baseball shape.
I still like his stuff a lot and I think he's a real smart pitcher, so hopefully he gets this straightened out quickly.
He had nothing last night though. I wouldn't mind seeing him sent down now to get some work in and work back to where he was before this trip he just had to take.
I agree it's the Braves fault for assuming he was ready last night. Because he was terrible. And he shouldn't have been left in there to take the beating he did.
If I recall correctly, 92 was the highest his fastball was last night.

Time to put last night behind us. We have Newk and Folty going the next two games - fully expect us to get back on the winning track.
Go Braves!

Julio on DL with thumb confusion And we call up Luke Jackson. Yay We seem to have a never ending supply of these caliber relievers.
90% chance Snitker brings him in tonight if it's tie game or one run game.
We throw all these cheesy relievers into the fire right away, like each time we send them down maybe they found lightning in a bottle to bring back with them.
But of course we didn't throw Dustin Peterson in there.
