UP NEXT:
Darvish (0-3, 6.00 ERA) will oppose Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 3.21 ERA) on Tuesday night. Foltynewicz has limited opponents to two earned runs or less in seven of his eight starts.

Weather questionable once again. I'll take a look tomorrow to see what's going on.

Some Braves items from May 15 through the years....
1944 In front of just 1,014 fans at Crosley Field, Reds' hurler Clyde Shoun, in his first start of the season, no-hits the Braves, 1-0. Chuck Aleno's only home run of the 1944 season accounts for the game's lone run. 1968 Hoping to fill the void created when the Braves moved to Atlanta, the White Sox play the first of nine games in Milwaukee. A crowd of 23,403 fans watches the Pale Hose lose to the Angels, 4-2, in the first American League contest to take place in Milwaukee since 1901. 1970 After going 0-4 on Opening Day, Rico Carty proceeds to get a hit in 31 straight games. This season's batting champ's sixth-inning RBI single at Crosley Field sets the record for the longest hitting streak for the Braves since the franchise relocated to Atlanta.
And some things around the league, starting with one of the most famous of beat downs in early baseball lore....
1912 At Hilltop Park, Ty Cobb, after days of listening to verbal abusive Highlander fans, jumps into the stands near the Tigers dugout and pummels Claude Lueker, who has no fingers on one hand and only two fingers on the other, due to an industrial accident. The "Georgia Peach' lands at least a dozen punches to the head of the heckler, knocking his victim down, before kicking the hapless fan in the lower body with his spikes.
1976 In his first major league start, rookie right-hander Mark Fidrych throws a complete game two-hitter in the Tigers' 2-1 victory over Cleveland. 'The Bird', who holds the Tribe hitless for the first six innings, amuses his teammates and delights the Detroit fans with his unorthodox antics, which includes talking to the ball.

Gonna be a tough game...
Someone mentioned previously the fact that there are serious trends about the 1st home game coming off a long road trip.
Vegas agrees as the odds give the Cubs a distinct advantage.
A win here under these circumstances, and after results of the last 3 home games, would be yuge.

We ate Yu's lunch when we faced him in April. Dig in boys, let's go buffet style on his ass again!
Make him feel some of what we've given Quintana--13 ER in 7 innings against him this year. 17 hits and 7 BB.

Three games in three different cities in three days. This is unusual, to say the least.

Three games in three different cities in three days. This is unusual, to say the least. I remembered seeing this somewhere, and had to look it up....granted these were minor league teams, but this was also sort of unique......and not really all that long ago, in 2006... "For the first time in baseball history, teams meet in a day-night, home and away interstate doubleheader. The Sioux Fall Canaries (SD) and Sioux City Explorers (IA) of the American Association (Independent) split the twin bill, with the I-29 rivals each losing its home game."

Maybe since there are always so many Cubs fans that travel to Atlanta, the Braves will feel and play like they are on the road!

Time to take back the ATL boys. We need to finish these baby bears today and not let them hang around so long.

MLB Network giving the Braves some love today. The "D" train with Mark DeRosa saying to go for it by getting a nasty right and left handed reliever (Brand Hand-San Diego was mentioned) and maybe, just maybe, going after Kershaw. I can get on board with that train!!!

***Weather Update-First look*** Weatherwise, it looks like we may be able to play tonight. A low pressure area will provide plenty of moisture and cloud cover this evening but instability and other factors in northern GA aren't clearly present in amounts to warrant severe weather but could develop so I'll check later. PWAT's (precipitable water in a column of air) are in excess of 1.5" in the metro area so plenty of moisture. Afternoon heating may help to trigger a T-storm or two but the evening looks more promising for less activity until after game time. Most global models keeping the rain to the south but light rain isn't out of the question. The NAM and Euro both bring in some light rain during game time with heavier rain just to the S/SE of the Atlanta metro area. HREF also brings in some light rain. Regional models (RAP, HRRR) are showing just some light precipitation but they will eventually incorporate radar returns for a more accurate outlook as we get closer to game time. I'll do a more complete analysis after I visit the gym this afternoon. -PA GO BRAVES!
