UP NEXT: Braves: RHP Julio Teheran (2-1) will make his eighth start of the season Wednesday night and his first start ever against Tampa Bay. Rays: LHP Ryan Yarbrough (2-1) will start after allowing one hit over five scoreless innings out of the bullpen Friday night against Toronto.
TRAINER'S ROOM: Braves: LHP Luiz Gohara, who started the season on the disabled list with a sprained left ankle and then made four minor league starts, was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. He will be used in the bullpen initially. Rays: RHP Nathan Eovaldi (right elbow surgery) will make his second rehab start with Class A Charlotte against Fort Myers on Wednesday night. He will go two innings or 35 pitches. ... The Rays did not evaluate Hechevarria's status postgame, but the eye was swollen.

Braves events from the past on this date....
2007 Jarrod Saltalamacchia, on his 22nd birthday, makes his major league debut. With 14 letters in his last name, the Braves backstop has the longest surname in baseball history, besting 15 other major leaguers who played with 13 letters in their family name.
And just some other stuff of interest........
1871 Esteban Enrique 'Steve' Bell becomes the first Hispanic player to appear in a major league game. The 21 year-old Cuban plays the infield for the Troy Haymakers of the National Association in a 9-5 loss to the Boston Red Stockings.
1943 Due to poor grade of rubber cement used to make baseballs because of wartime rubber shortages, a different type of baseball is put into play today, with dramatic results. In eight games, six home runs are hit, compared to a total of nine homers tallied in the season's first 72 games.

I think they recycled those balls into use in the 90's and early 2000's to go along with the 'roids! 73 HR's...ridiculous!

Why is Ender hitting in front of Camargo again for the second straight night???
You know, to get Ender going again, the first time we face a starting RHP Ender will go back to leading off, Ozzie second and Acuna dropped in the lineup.

Well, that inning was uneventful for us, offensively.

I HATE indoor games on any kind of turf.
It brings back memories of our World Series with the Twins and makes me twitch.

I don't understand the risk of stealing 3rd w/two outs.

And congratulations to Chip for saying the most asinine thing he's ever said (I know, you can't believe he's topped himself, right?).
He just said that someone once told him the way you can tell how well someone is really swinging the bat is if their OBP is 100 points higher than their batting average. He then said that's exactly what happened with Bautista last year, because even though he only hit .203, he got on base 31% of the time.
So there you have it.
Getting on base 31% of the time and having an OPS of .674 for a power hitting outfielder is ok as long as your OBP topped your batting average by more than 100 points.
You were actually swinging the bat well.

And then dipshit Joe follows that up playing Captain Obvious as he tells us that Bautista is obviously not up to speed yet, his bat is slow and he's behind pitches and he needs more time. Then he doesn't bother to question why Bautista was brought up when he was.
