Anyone else notice that after the kid's efficient start, both Newcomb and Teheran followed with very efficient games as well? It's like it took the kid attacking the strike zone for them to realize that that's the best way to pitch. Hoping Folty follows suit tonight.
Maybe Soroka could be ace/pitching coach since he's done in a couple of days what Hernandez has not been able to do all year.

We already have 6 guys for 5 spots with Sanchez getting ready to come back. Personally, I would give Soroka the start on Sunday and if he pitches well again, keep him in the rotation.

Bring on the Allard! Gohara ain’t pitching for us this year. Don't know about that, but I will say this........if Gohara doesn't get serious about his conditioning, he stands to lose million$$$ in future earnings.

Soroka might turn out to be a great pitcher & got to give him credit for making the majors at such a young age
But to date, this is a 20 yr old kid with one fine game to his credit -- lets not get too giddy just yet
Look at Matt Harvey who was the next whatever and where is he now -- some of it due to injuries and maybe other things like lack of focus, NY distractions, too much expectation, maybe the org did not help him or whatever. Very unfortunate
First thing I hope Soroka stays healthy and does not have to face TJ early in his career like some really good young pitchers do
Pitchers are a volatile bunch -- and I hope Gohara can get healthy -- he looked like a nice prospect but has not been able to help at least for this yr
I do wish these kids the best -- I do not want to expect too much from Soroka, Kolby Allard and Ian Anderson too soon -- that is how you get disappointed

What I do know is our hot streak will end and I don’t mind riding out a heater but if you guys think for one second that Julio will somehow be consistent, McCarthy will be more than a BOR, and that Sanchez will make it to June then you are delusional. Pitching wise this year is about Folty establishing consistency and the kids getting experience.

Post makes sense and is realistic, but I might think more highly of Julio than you do I still think he is a creditable MOR SP in todays game -- could be trade bait this off season with these kids coming up And save for the last game Folty had been doing quite well but I want to see more of a body of work from him. Newk is an interesting work in progress, somewhat Folty like with the control, but I think he has better control of the emotions with better mound presence -- probable building block We really do not know what Fried is yet, no opinion based on the major league work yet

Just being realistic, if we skid to the tune of losing 10 of the next 15 (outside of blaming everything on Bautista) would you be ok with selling off Neck and Julio? Might get a B level prospect back if we eat salary for the remainder of the year. Then let a combo of Allard, Soroka, Fried, Newcomb, Folty, and Gohara pitch out the rest of the year. Hopefully bring up Riley over the summer and let the kids get some valuable experience.
Would be a heck of a sales pitch to free agents to have young inexpensive talent everywhere and only Inciarte/Freeman on the books aside from arbitration players. Nowadays that’s going to yield the biggest window for championships plus you are not a sell out going to the high payroll teams yet still getting paid like you are.
