I have us at 16-9 so pretty close to our actual record of 14-11. I remember some were pretty worried about our tough schedule to begin the year. I had the pitching going really well and had no idea how well we would hit. That has been a pleasant surprise! All of the pitchers have lived up to what I expected of them except for Dr. Julio and Mr. Teheran. Talk about a tale of two pitchers. Folty seems to have finally turned the corner. Hopefully this will continue. McCarthy is as advertised. If we can hit this season he should get us a lot of quality starts. Newcomb seems to have found his location finally. He's got ace potential! Sanchez has been a great surprise when healthy. The best thing about all of this is we haven't even seen Gohara yet! He should give us even more consistency from the mound.
All this being said what is your prediction for the next 25 games? Personally I have us taking a slight step backward. 14-11 is my prediction. I think the pitching becomes even more effective but out hitting starts to slump a little. Albies and Freeman can't keep up this current MVP pace and somewhere toward the end of the 25 days Acuna will hit his first rookie slump. Guys like Flarety and Tucker will regress back to their mean. The good news is Gohara should be up toward the middle of the 25 days, Sanchez should be back, and Joey Bats/Camargo will give us more at 3rd than Flarety(it wouldn't surprise me to see him optioned or waived in the next 25 days) is capable of. I do expect Tucker to be a good 250 hitter off the bench for us and possibly move back into a starting role when Markakis is moved by the All Star Break. The best thing about this season so far is these guys have been fun to watch! They play like they love playing!

Sort of "None of the Above", but probably because I'm more day at a time rather than predicting the future...I like the idea you have chosen to go in 25 game increments though, since many believe that is the best way to evaluate.
Hitting has certainly been a pleasant surprise team wise, with some obvious regression to norms being expected...Flaherty, Tucker as you mentioned, for instance....defense has been better than I expected, and the addition of Ronald has made this even better....Starting pitching has been an adventure at times, but we seem to have some resources we can rely on eventually, which is good due to Sanchez and now Julio injuries of sorts...thankfully McCarthy was able to recover quickly, or this area might very well have taken a hit they would struggle to recover from.
Relievers have surfaced as our Achilles Heel, and a steady stream of candidates are seemingly auditioning weekly for a spot....if we don't get some rest for guys like Sam, or if we can't find somebody to step up and shut down in the middle to late innings, we may be relegated to having to score 8 a game in order to win....a tall task.
Last area has been decision making, and I have been mystified by things like Lane Adams going and some others staying, running ourselves out of an inning, and my current rage item of Ozzie seeming to constantly looking to bunt. I'm assuming the new GM is learning to work with his people, from manager to clubhouse guy, and I'm willing to try to be less critical as time goes on...as you mentioned, the chemistry and atmosphere, have obviously changed as evidenced by Ender's antics the other night, and they have been fun to watch............I'm not sure we are contenders for anything yet, but things sure do look better.

I predicted we would finish right around 82-80, so we're about on track but I've seen some very promising things.

We need bullpen help, but otherwise, I'm pretty dang happy with what I've seen. Fix the pen, we might even contend.

Predicting the first 25 games is arbitrary in my opinion. That's too small a sample size and too early to pick up trends. Sanchez started off the season really well. How long would that have continued had he not gotten hurt? Who anticipated Gohara getting hurt? There are way too many things to account for that one should be predicting half the season or longer. I felt going into the season that the Braves were roughly a .500 team. They are certainly outperforming my expectations currently.

Imho 25 game windows are good way to periodically measure the season success. That's 5 starts for 5 starters. I agree though Pete they have outperformed my expectations hitting for sure. Julio is a little disappointing. Hopefully he's turned the corner.
