If we get an 18-1 lead today I’m still not going to be comfortable until it’s over. Game is cancelled today due to weather (and the Braves too embarrassed to show up) I've always said that you try to get as many runs as you can when you can and don't worry about showing up the other team. I don't agree with the not stealing/don't pour it on philosophy when you have a big lead. If the other team stops trying to win then I'll stop trying to score more runs.

I’ve always said that when you have a big lead, relief pitchers must pound the strike zone pitch after pitch.
If you are a major league relief pitcher and you can’t come in and pound the strike zone when necessary, then you need to be pitching somewhere else.
I am very tired of our relief guys coming in and walking guys left and right. We led the league in it before yesterday even began.

Anyone one know WHY the game is rained out. The rain has passed through and no echoes are showing on radar meaning at the very most very light rain or drizzle. Did someone forget to put a tarp on? Is the outfield a lake? Is this just one one those, after yesterday, it's just it's too cold and damp to do that again days? I'm miffed. Chicago Radar
Static radar image 4/15/18 I was assuming it was one of those too cold and too damp to do it again things. Back in the old days they would have played a double header today just for the hell of it, but they were real men.

I totally agree, and it makes me wonder about the play at first yesterday where Markakis grounded into a double play but there was a chance the first baseman had pulled his foot off the bag. I've deleted the game (3 seconds after it ended) so I can't go back and look. I didn't pay it any attention when it happened, but I heard Joe wondering later if the Braves should have challenged that. I hope to god we didn't just "let it go" because we had a big lead at the time.

Well considering we make some terrible choices anyway regarding challenges, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that we just declined because the game was in hand.

David O'Brien @dobrienajc #Braves recalled RH Lucas Sims from Triple-A and DFA’s RH Luke Jackson. Sims can't pitch, either. Good grief.

The rain is supposed to transition to snow later this afternoon. Also this is signicantly heavier rains than yesterday. The rain during the game yesterday was much lighter. Wrigley is close to the lake and when the rain transitions to snow it is going to be heavier near the lake. My guess is that someone that makes the decision to cancel the game deemed the conditions unsafe. I am 35 miles West of Chicago the rain combined with the temperature is actually producing freezing rain out by me. Due to the way winds go through Wrigley Field it is actually 10 degrees colder inside the ball park than right outside the ballpark. The break in the rain people mentioned is probably a short dry spot before it starts snowing. The game was probably cancelled due to visibility issues creating unsafe playing conditions. It is actually colder here once you factor in the wind chill than it was in the cold weather in Colorado.

Saturday's game was horrendous and will go down in Cubs' lore as the great comeback. The Braves bullpen is atrocious. Ramirez especially BLOWS. Yesterday's game blew the big one, but it's one game. In April. In horrible conditions.

There was a dry slot with drizzle for Sunday afternoon but with falling temps (I didn't see that happening until later in the evening or overnight) I can see that postponing the game to preclude driving in hazard conditions later in the day was probably a smart move. The radar was showing very isolated weak echoes, which only indicates very light precipitation. I didn't see any indications of impeding heavier precipitation, especially frozen, but then again I didn't do a complete mesoscale analysis nor did I do any local atmospheric profiling. I'll defer to those that did. Cheers, PA
