Eddie Rosario signs with Nats. Can make $4M with incentives.
It was ignorant not to re-sign him if that's all it took, but he was never really a Snit guy. Luckily we snatched up Kelenic for just $15.75M.

This hurts bad. He was the key we beat the Dodgers and winning WS. Don’t know why we didn’t bring him back.

I don't blame the Braves for not exercising Rosario's $9M option. But he was also able to be resigned at any point a lot cheaper, obviously. But of course he was not one of Snitker's boys, and Eddie probably didn't want to be yanked around any more like Snitker did him. He wasn't a needle mover, he was just a nice piece that fit well and clearly a good piece when it came to team chemistry. When you have that why mess with it. The Kelenic thing is a complete unknown. Maybe he'll bust out and be one of AA's best moves. We shall see. It's just a gamble I didn't think we needed to take.

It was also sort of obvious he wanted to remain here and would have done so for less than the option.

Gotta applaud the Met's tonight. After Rhys Hoskins proved once a Phillie, always a Phillie with his sliding way past 2nd base to take out McNeil on a DP attempt.... The Mets threw behind him in next AB.
Love it...
Sarge would never allow it, but I love it.

Stephen Strasburg Officially Retireswww.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/stephen-strasburg-officially-retires.html"Golden adds that Strasburg will be paid the $105MM left on his seven-year, $345MM deal with the Nationals, though Strasburg has reportedly agreed to defer some of his remaining salary." "The club went over the top to keep their franchise face, signing the then-31-year-old Strasburg to a deal that would take him through his age-37 season. That contract will go down as one of the worst in MLB history, as Strasburg pitched just 31 1/3 innings of 6.98 ERA baseball after it took effect in 2020, while the Nationals found themselves plunged into a lengthy rebuild by the summer of 2021."

That's why the Braves don't give massive contracts to pitchers.
