Right-hander Tyler Glasnow and the Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a five-year, $135 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Once the deal is complete, the trade of Glasnow and Manuel Margot from the Rays to the Dodgers for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca will be official.

And in the end the Dodgers will find ways to crap themselves, like the Mutts and Faillies they always do.
Buying championships just doesn't work, no matter how good it looks on paper ahead of time.

I know your shocked...but I disagree.. The Texas Rangers lost 102 games in 2021 and 94 in 2022. They spent a bazillion bucks on Semien, Seager, deGrom,Nathen Eovaldi, Heaney and Jon Gray. They did supplement with key trades along the way with the likes of Scherzer and Montomery. But you cant deny that they didn't buy themselves a championship.

$135M/5yr for Glasnow. WOW, that's a lot for a guy averaging about 80 innings/yr since 2018. seems like a gamble to me. We'll see how that works out. Maybe his injuries are behind him but it seems like he's always missing part of a season.

I'm going to go ahead and dub it the "we screwed the desperate Dodgers out of $700M because Ohtani's arm is never going to be right again" surgery.

Haha, we can only hope. And, if things don’t go to plan, they’ll still have their $700mil DH, for the rest of his BB career.

Dodgers desperately trying to buy a World Series. Yamamoto obviously had no intention of signing anywhere else though, because I'm sure he could have gotten more money.

Wow... over ONE BILLION $$$ invested in two players. There is something seriously wrong that a team loaded with money can do this with no reprocussions whatsoever other than having a slap on the wrist luxury tax...which they will happily... I mean happily pay.

It’s seriously screwed up that a team can do this, but it’s going to be funny watching them fail every year. The bottom 4-5 in their lineup is still real weak. They have Heyward and Chris Taylor in their lineup as well as a few other questionables. Sure they have maybe the best 1-3 hitters in the history of the game, if you ignore the fact that Betts has been a massive playoff choker. Maybe they’ll have some bad injuries, Freeman is getting ready to enter the back side of his career, hopefully he hits a big regression soon. A lot still has to go right for any team to win. Plus they do still have Roberts as their manager, maybe the only guy in baseball who can out moron Snitwit.

MLB is a microcosm of the wealth inequality in America. The Dodgers are Elon Musk, the Yankees are Jeff Bezos and the A’s are homeless.

Dodgers aren’t winning the title. Rotation is dependent on a guy who hasn’t pitched in mlb, a guy coming off TJS and a guy made of glass. Also fangraphs has the Barves as best team in 2024...

$374.7M payroll topping the previous record high of $291.1M by the 2015 Dodgers.
Also hit with a $101M luxury tax. To be sellers at the trade deadline and finish 4th in our division.
2024 Dodgers look at the foolishness and say "oh yeah? Here, hold our beers......"

Luxury tax penalties for 2022-23:
• Mets: $100.8M • Padres: $39.7M • Yankees: $32.4M • Dodgers: $19.4M • Phillies: $6.98M • Blue Jays: $5.5M • Braves: $3.2M • Rangers: $1.8M
The Mutts were a special kind of stupid.......even more hilarious with them being out of the playoff race by the trade deadline.
