Well we can kiss Acuna goodbye when he's done with the team options. Baseball needs a hard cap, the sooner the better.

Oh, well, onward How ‘bout some Yoshinobu Yamamoto ….I know, 2 chances, slim and none He’d prolly only be $50mil per year lol lol, the Dodgers are supposedly interested in him, maybe around $300M.
This is beyond ridiculous. No single player is worth anywhere near $700M for 10 years. It's just stupid. No one player is going to put any team over the edge, and the Dodgers especially still have a bunch of holes.
We won the World Series without Acuna, this year the Rangers won even after Garcia got hurt and was so hot. It's one of the beauties of the game, it takes an entire team to win it all. Even if you have 10 All Star elite players on your team its not a given you'll win. Ask George Steinbrenner. It's a joke and a degradation to the sport. I guess things are about to spiral to a world of complete insanity with player contracts after this nonsense.
Over the course of 10 years Ohtani will make $432,000 per game. I mean come on.
I think I read that Bryce Harper is now the 41st highest plaid player in baseball and is wanting a new contract.
Tell me you want me to be so sickened that I stop watching sports without telling me you want me to stop.

lol, what a joke.
I think as of right now Buehler is their only legit starting pitcher, just to begin to scrape the surface of the issues they still have.

I never had a shadow of a doubt that there is where he would end up.
It doesn't bother me, and it doesn't guarantee the Dodgers anything.

If he's truly deferring a ton of money, which it sounds like he is, then that will allow the Dodgers to still make moves over the next few years. However, they will pay a heavy, heavy price in the years after he retires because of all the deferred money that they will be still be paying to him long after he's gone.

Speaking of smiles, Acuña prolly can't contain himself. His asking price in three years just increased $250m... And who could blame him?

What's really sickening is that the Dodgers have a good enough farm system to go out and get a really good SP.. And to the Victor goes the spoils...

Btw, he surpasses Messi in securing the richest sports contract in history
And how rediculous was it when reporting that the Braves are "still in" on Ohtani sweepstakes. They checked out once the bidding went over $350m...lol.

The Dodgers have one championship, the 37 percenter from 2020, in the last 35 years, so I don't care what they do.

As stupid as many teams have been over the years I’ve never believed we needed a hard salary cap, but if the spoiled rich kid owners are going to go insane we need a cap. I would imagine it’s going to become a big topic after this because this is not good for baseball. I would imagine that most or all of the owners have to be really cringing over this.

I just looked at the White Sox depth chart for their rotation: Dylan Cease Mike Soroka Touki Toussaint Jesse Scholtens Jared Schuster
Maybe Coppolela is working under the table for the Sox.

The entire league …all were waiting for this shoe to drop, to set the tone the rest of the way.. it wouldn’t surprise me to see contracts off the charts for what’s left. Can’t imagine that sane owners and GMs are happy about this, OTOH, many look at the Ohtani deal as a 2 player acquisition…. so, in their minds, he’s only getting $35mil per year ….TWICE!! lol lol

Not that actual playoff performance really means anything (lol), but I decided to do a little research on post season numbers......
Since 2017, among hitters who have had a minimum of 100 plate appearances, Eddie Rosario has the 14th best playoff OPS in all of baseball with a .865 OPS.
Notable names with lower OPS's than that:
15th Max Muncy .856 16th Carlos Correa .856 17th Juan Soto .845 20th Gleyber Torres .820 21st Ronald Acuna Jr. .817 23rd Alex Bregman .790 24th Jeremy Pena .783 25th Justin Turner .775 26th Aaron Judge .772 29th Marcus Semien .759 32nd Manny Machado .735 33rd JT Realmuto .731 34th Michael Brantley .725 35th Dansby Swanson .721 37th Mookie Betts .713 38th Yuli Gurriel .709 39th Trea Turner .708 40th Kyle Tucker .704 43rd Willy Adames .689 44th Will Smith .686 48th Xander Bogaerts .661 49th Cody Bellinger .661 50th Ozzie Albies .656 51st Austin Riley .647 52nd Nick Castellanos .637
Also consider that Eddie has a 1.137 OPS in the playoffs against LHP.......and sat in favor of a guy who had a .550 OPS the last 2/3 of this season and a career .661 OPS against LHP in the playoffs.......and .560 against RHP.
Interesting too that we didn't want pay Eddie $9M this year to be the 6th or 7th best player on our team......easily the best number 6 or 7 player on any team in baseball, but we're ok paying most of Max Stassi's $7M to play for someone else.
