I'm not worried about the big picture.
Getting crazy over a bad loss here and there is silly because it happens to everybody, and you know that.
Having a bad loss is maddening but should be kept in perspective.
Not worried about the big picture? Maybe, maybe not, but tell me honestly, how confident are you when Iggy takes the mound? H e hasn't been very reliable since he got here. Can he be the closer we need to win it all? Maybe, but when you melt down multiple times against AAA talent, you can't help but wonder.......or at least I can't. I'm 100% confident when Iglesias comes into a game. But I take into consideration he had NO spring training and then tried to jump into games 5 weeks into the season when everybody else was rolling. He had two bad outings the first week of HIS season, and then I don't think you really want to know what he did in his last twelve outings prior to last night--he pitched 11.1 innings, gave up 2 hits and 0 earned run. How in the world does that get overlooked and forgotten? 8 saves and 2 wins. What the heck?
Last year in 26 games he did this for us--0.34 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and .185 BAA.
How is that forgotten???
In 28 appearances last year he gave up 2 earned runs.
So he's had 3 bad outings in 45 games since we acquired him.
I'd sure like to know where the hell the unreliability is in that.
Rosario was way too far towards CF and deep last night on the hit that hurt us, but I still put that loss on Iglesias. But it happens to everybody eventually, and I think it's clear he's been pretty damn good for us actually. I'm more than fine with him. He's been a really good closer for quite awhile, I have no issues with him.

He did correct that and say this. Correction. Iggy hasn't been reliable since his late start. Hopefully just a blip, but man when he's bad, he's really bad. It's easy for anyone to have a bit of recency bias but then think it over a bit and key did that here. He's had two really bad outings and I think what is frustrating is when it's one of those bad outings, it has been really bad and it's evident pretty quickly.

It is true that the few bad outings he's had you can see it right away, but the same thing is true with most or all of our other bullpen guys, which is fairly normal really, but the problem I have with that is that we have a lot of games were a reliever will come in and either have horrific control issues or get completely hammered, and our dumbass manager will let him pitch to 5, 6 7 hitters and keep getting pounded when everybody can see the guy is off and needs to pulled after that third hitter. Once we got down to Iglesias last night I would support living or dying with him as opposed to taking him out and putting Jiminez in the game. I see once in awhile why we saw something in Jiminez, but it's pretty rare, definitely not consistent enough. He'll come in and have a good outing and be really good, but not usually. It's a black mark that we gave up a good prospect for him.
