Dodgers are the epitome of a good team. Give them a break and they will step on your neck. That's not in our DNA...

If this rookie pitcher beats us in our own back yard against our ace, then it's panic time...

Olson ain't even close to Freddie is he? Not elite…yet, but other than BA their homers, ribbies and runs are very similar ..Matt has 4 more homers Defense, of course, is sub par …because of the errors

We didn't trade Freddie straight up for Olson, with the two of them being in similar situations. It's like that's the way everybody sees it and that is overly simplistic.
We made Freddie a fair offer and out of his own ignorance he screwed it up. So we made a move that was our next best option.
Freddie is one of the elite players in the game right now. To expect/demand that Olson or anyone else match that is senseless.
The situation is not even one we can fairly evaluate at this point, it won't be for 2 to 7 years from now, because our "advantage" in this thing is the backside of the two contracts. Freddie is 4 years older than Olson, and Olson is signed for two more years than Freddie is. Freddie also makes $5M per year than Olson does. I for one would not like the odds that Freddie will still be elite from 35 on, and at that point he'll still be making $27M per year for his age 35, 36 and 37 years. During that period Olson will be in his age 31, 32 and 33 years and only making $22M per year. And then we also have him signed for 2028 and 2029, Freddie's deal is up after 2027. So during 2028 and 2029 we'll reap the benefits of having Olson then too. From either 2025 or 2026 we're likely to have a huge gain in this thing. In the meantime, I'm not going to cry a lot about a guy who has a .900 OPS and is on pace for a 5.6 WAR season right now. He's not Freddie but he's not supposed to be.

I already don't like this Miller kid, he seems awfully cocky.
But as usual, throw a guy out there making his major league debut against us and we can count on our offense to suck.
Good thing we missed their good pitchers these first two games!

Past Braves teams have not fared well vs young pitchers they’ve not seen before…was really hoping Strider would be unhittable tonight. Our team is wounded, so is theirs, but they are catching us at a great time to beat us with our pitching not at full strength and most of our relievers either over worked or just plain bad

You are absolutely correct, but it still sucks right now.

But I learned a long time ago not to be mad at my wife because she's not Kate Upton.
Olson is 5th in WAR among all MLB first basemen, behind Freddie, Diaz, Rizzo and Goldschmidt, so it is what it is.
People are also glorifying Freddie because he's improving as time goes by, but he's likely to have a fair drop off in the next couple of years. He played 10 full years for us and put up 45 WAR, that's easy math. But he was a 7.1 last year so it's the end of the world.

“Bro, you cannot change my mechanics,” Marcell Ozuna said. “I cannot change my mechanics because you said so. The only thing you can do is back up. That’s it, back up.”
Marcell Ozuna shares his side of the incident with Will Smith.
