I don't think he gets to 40/40 because he is not near a 40 HR pace right now, but he does have power back from his lower body... something missing sorely last season. He's also got his confidence back in the field.

He's also got his confidence back in the field. His launch angle is down from previous years...2021 to be more precise. His barrel rate and hard hit ball rate are at the top of the league. And his exit velo is tops I believe. He's on pace for around 27/100. The SB's are not going to be a problem, and I have confidence that when the weather gets warmer he will light it up in terms of hr's. In terms of increasing launch angle, I'm not sure of the science behind it and if it can be changed. Originally thought that a slightly more uppercut would do it...but that has nothing to do with it apparently.

Could we be working on a trade involving Max Fried? I would say there's no way, since we are legit contenders, and it would take a ton to pry him away from us, and who is going to give up a ton when he'll be a FA after this season? The only way it would make sense is if the other team knew they could sign Fried to a new deal. This stuff that's going on with him is really weird. I don't think it's a trade but this stuff is strange that there's no word about anything. Maybe we realize we won't sign him and they are working on a big deal that would make sense for us and another team in the long run.

Maybe he was still hurting or re-aggravated his injury. I really hope they don't trade him. By the way I don't think Fried is a free agent until 2025 so he would bring a considerable haul considering he is a perennial Cy Young contender.

The haul would better be huge because we are in win right now mode and we still have him for awhile longer.
Maybe he and Snit had a difference of opinion and some harsh words were spoken.
The other real possibility which I don't want to imagine is that it's his elbow, and they don't want to say a word until 100% certain.

Now it's got me thinking the Orioles were just here and have a great SS prospect in Jackson Holliday. He's a top 10 prospect in all of baseball, right up there with Volpe of the Yankees and Mayer of the Red Sox.
Dang...this is gonna keep me up tonight now. I'll be checking the wires to see if anything's happening.

Dang...this is gonna keep me up tonight now. I'll be checking the wires to see if anything's happening. I had to look and yes, next year is Fried's last arb year......with all the talk of resigning him I was assuming this was the last year of his contract.....but we'd likely have to pay him a large amount next year if he has the kind of season he's started out with so far. Aside from the hoodoo voodoo that's gone on the last week or so he's looked good. It's odd that he would be used at all if they had injury concerns. By the same token, it wouldn't be a bad idea to move him now if you feel certain we can't sign him, and get something really good in return, while you can. I know teams aren't supposed to talk about certain things with players but I think it still happens, and if there's a team out there that knew 100% sure he would sign a big deal they would be willing to do it. It would be pretty ballsy but AA has been real good at that for the most part. He's also thought long term, which this would be. I don't like the idea at all, and if we did move him I feel like we'd have to get a good established starting pitcher in return, maybe a #2 or #3 and a good prospect or good player. But that would be better than seeing him walk and us just getting a good compensation draft pick. I really don't see it happening but it did cross my mind.

King's ransom+ for Fried if they are gonna trade him. Anything less than that at this time, absolutely no deal. Braves are the best team in the national league with world series aspirations. Trading fried for less than a king's ransom would be counterproductive.

If he's healthy he's bordering on being the best pitcher in baseball. Which means we won't be signing him. So that aspect of it makes sense to do it right now. But you have to have a team that somehow knows for sure they'll sign him long term and have the pieces they could part with now to get him from us. Pieces that would make it worth our while too, which would be a lot.
As much as I could understand it I don't want it to happen, we've got a real chance to win it all this year. I'd rather keep him and take my shot we can win this year, and if we win and then we lose him I'm ok with that, the World Series win would make it worth it to me. It seems crazy to have such a legit shot and then trade such a big piece right in the middle of it. I'd gamble we can with it all and keep him, and if we end up losing and then also lose him, oh well, we took our best shot while we could and I could live with that.

Hence my opinion.... Championships are so hard that I can't see us not taking a shot this season. Trading such a huge piece of that is crazy unless we improve our odds of winning it or at least keep them about the same. 2024-25? Who knows... Another young pitcher may be a soon to be ace by then. Maybe Strider is the #1 then and Dodd and Shuster are #3 and # 4. We can't just piss away 2023 and look ahead. Plus we have uncertainty with Wright this year... so I'm not seeing a trade unless it brings us veteran ace who might be on the backside of his career in return. I just can't see us giving up our #1 right now for a SS prospect or anything that may take time to see a return. That's why I am legit scared of this being a possible major injury that they are not ready to make public as they seek 2nd and 3rd opinions. I would actually find the best outcome to be something else entirely... like he went off on Snit about something. Trade or big injury seems like a terrible blow on the season... ... and if it was a minor injury, they wouldn't be hesitant to release information. THAT is what leads me down these other paths.
