How bad did it look on Acuna’s injury?? Hopefully its not that bad. But when its off the knee or in the knee area, you can't help but think of Christian Yelich when he fractured his knee cap on a similar play. Let's keep our fingers crossed... Heartening for Braves fans is that the team account tweeted that he was pulled as a "precaution," indicating it's not thought by the team to be serious.

There have been a few others that broke their knee cap and were out for along time

Snitker said Acuña didn't injure anything with that foul off his knee and should be ok.

The thing about Olson batting 2nd is magnified 100 times when the 3rd place batter is also not hitting and striking out a lot. But Riley has been looking better lately. We ALL know that guys like Riley and Olson are going to strike out a lot, especially these days. You just have to accept it. Having a contact guy between them wouldn't hurt, but since either of them can carry you for periods, I can live with it.

Dave Kingman was never my hero.

Well he did it... Post game; Snitker mentioned MVP and Ozuna That's just how thick headed he is. The man had one supreme 60 game season, a couple of good seasons but nowhere near elite level, then several below average years, but in Snitwit's mind Ozuna is an MVP caliber baseball player guy.

Dave Kingman was never my hero. I always liked a well rounded team that had a lot of speed and a good power hitter or two, with the speed at the top. It took me a long time to buy into accepting anybody on your team striking out 150+ times in a season, and we have a team for a few years now that has 5 or 6 guys capable of going up to 170 to 200 K's in a season. And we're productive, comparatively. But a part of me still thinks a lot fewer K's would be a great idea. My biggest problem with them now is having them at the top of your lineup, it just does not play well with your #2 hitter in my book. It's not so much he's K'ing like he is as much as blockhead's insistence on batting him second. He sees him as comparable to Freddie. Freddie bats second, and right now Olson is .244/.363/.528/.891 and Freddie is .310/.386/.500/.886. But they're different players, they get their numbers in a different way. Freddie doesn't strike out nearly a much and that makes a huge difference to me for the second place hitter.

The game has changed. I don't like it, either, but until a team comes along and proves that you can still win big with contact hitters against today's hard throwers, it ain't gonna change. I don't see many contact hitters out there these days, either. No player wants to be a contact hitter anyway. They accept being contact hitters because of their limitations. No kid dreams of laying down the game winning bunt. I love baseball and I'm 62 years old, so I won't let the changes affect my love for the game......if I can help it.

I still have mixed feelings. It took me many years to accept a total abandonment of all fundamentals, they were so important when I was growing up as a fan and a player.
For the most part these hard throwers also have control issues, but most teams just have a swing away philosophy. There are a few teams that make the pitchers work and throw strikes, and they can really cause problems with that.
I haven’t given up the idea that a disciplined line drive hitting/ walk seeking team can’t win it all over free swinging power teams.
There’s a big part of me that thinks it’s as simple as some people are winners and most people are posers and find a way to lose when the money is on the line. When a group of winners comes along that plays old style ball they’ll win. It’s an intangible that is almost impossible to foresee but somehow we’ve been able to have a lot of those guys over the years and I feel like we really have that right now.

I agree, the K's are a bit of a problem, however, we are almost always at the top of the league for GIDP too (we're 2nd most this year). How can less contact lead to so many GIDP's? You would think with all the strike outs, were 6th most in the league, that less contact would lead to less GIDP. Sometimes I'm just as glad a guy strikes out rather than hits into a DP.
