Fresh off of back-to-back series wins to open the season, the Atlanta Braves hit the road for the first time in 2018 when they open a three-game set in Colorado against the Rockies on Friday.
The Braves are 4-2 in large part to an offense that has come out of the gate on fire. Atlanta has scored 48 runs which is tops in the majors and ties a team record for the most ever after six games.
Freddie Freeman is off to a hot start but the Braves have also received contributions from Preston Tucker and Ryan Flaherty among others. They will look to keep that going in Colorado.
Ozzie Albies rounding the bases is one of the most exciting things you can see at an Atlanta Braves’ game and that moment has been captured by Breaking T with “The Most Exciting 10 Seconds in Baseball” shirt.
The Rockies dropped two of three to the Diamondbacks in their series opener out in Arizona before taking two of three from the Padres in San Diego.
Charlie Blackmon is off to a good start going 8-for-24 with four homers and two doubles in his first six games. Colorado locked him up with a six-year contract extension on Wednesday worth $108 million.
Friday, April 6 4:10 p.m. ET (Fox Sports South, MLB Network) Brandon McCarthy: (1 GS, 5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 3 BB)
McCarthy turned in a good performance in his Atlanta debut holding the Phillies to six hits and two runs over 5.1 innings.
In 10 career appearances against the Rockies, McCarthy is 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA. In four games at Coors Field, he has allowed 23 hits and 15 earned runs in 17 innings.
German Marquez: (1 GS, 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 4 K, 4 BB)

WASHINGTON NATIONALSHeyman | Early breakdown of Bryce Harper market The Atlanta Braves are a new name linked to the much-anticipated Bryce Harper derby, and they make a lot of sense, according to a friend of Harper. Steve Phillips of Sirius XM Radio first connected the Braves to Harper, who is off to a massive start in his walk year. The Braves make a lot of sense for several reasons, according to the friend, including: 1) They don’t have a right fielder (Nick Markakis is also in his walk year). 2) They have spent the past several years saving up, and by the end of this year, should all be very tired of losing. 3) They have the young pitching and select position stars (i.e. Ronald Acuña) that could make them attractive to free agents. www.fanragsports.com/nationals/heyman-early-breakdown-of-bryce-harper-market/

Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 Rockies/Braves getting snowed out would not be good. Just one trip to Denver on the schedule, 50,000 tickets sold. I’d imagine they would do a doubleheader tomorrow because Sunday’s forecast is bad, too

David O'Brien @dobrienajc FWIW, #Braves vs. #Rockies game is officially in a delay. I'd officially expect it to be officially called off before long, but that's just my unofficial opinion.
