Former barfs player Mallex Smith might be on the move again, this time to the Mariners.

Former barfs player Mallex Smith might be on the move again, this time to the Mariners. You mean, back to the mariners.

I had never seen this before tonight, and I really wish I could have lived the rest of my life without ever seeing it.

I remember being excited about how good of a player he was going to be when he was in our minor league system. He was tearing up AA ball the year we called him up, but the party kind of ended there. One real good season and two mediocre ones with Boston and that's about it.

Christian Bethancourt - After being traded from the Braves to the Padres and trying his hand at pitching, CB was last seen catching for the AAA afiliate of the Milwaulkee Brewers; The El Paso Chihuahuas. A check today doesn’t show him there anymore, so honestly I don’t have any idea where he is now. Plus I just realized I don’t care enough to look any further. So unless someone else wants to clue us in, I will put him down for... Status = Picture on a milk carton. On January 8, 2018, Bethancourt signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. He was assigned to the team’s Triple-A affiliate, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, for the 2018 season. On July 11, 2018, he played in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Bethancourt elected free agency on November 2, 2018. On December 12, 2018, Bethancourt signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the NC Dinos of the KBO League. www.rotoworld.com/headlines/mlb/594982/christian-bethancourt-signs-with-kbo-team

A guy like Bethancourt is what worries me about Swanson. Generally speaking, guys don't suddenly "get it" when it comes to hitting at the major league level. They either can hit or they can't. Swanson obviously hasn't been quite as bad as Bethancourt, but the idea that he's suddenly gonna get it and become a perennial .800 OPSish offensive player seems a bit far-fetched at this point, and that's what I expected when we got him. Maybe the wrist really has been the issue. I certainly hope so.

If he struggles out of the gate, I could see Camargo taking his place at SS. Hopefully not, cause if we do get the Dansby that we would all like to see ... it will just make the team that much stronger.

Maybe the wrist really has been the issue. I certainly hope so. I think what clearly got Dansby was his inability to recognize major league caliber breaking balls. It quickly went from physical to mental and he's been in trouble ever since. For the most part he's had little to no confidence and that's really causing problems. So far I have not seen him display any ability at all to fix this. The only breaking balls he can hit consistently are hangers that got away from the pitcher. As much as I prefer Camargo at this point as a better overall baseball player, it doesn't mean I root against Dansby. I would never do that, I always root for all of our guys. I'm just quite concerned about his ability to make this adjustment. And yes, it will be interesting to see how much of a leash he gets this time, circumstances have changed quite a bit from a year ago.
