Washington Nationals @ Atlanta Braves Wednesday, April 4, 12:10 PM ET , SunTrust Park
Max Scherzer, RHP--Nats Scherzer picked up where he left off in his first start of the 2018 season, tossing six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in an Opening Day victory over the Reds. At one point during the game, he racked up seven straight strikeouts.
vs
Mike Foltynewicz, RHP--Braves Foltynewicz surrendered two solo homers but was otherwise impressive as he displayed an elusive slider in his first start of the season. He has developed a more subdued windup with the hope he will be more consistent with his command.

There are few guys I root for more than Folty.
I mean I root for every Brave player, but man I really want Folty to reach his potential.. because his potential is tremendous.

Braves Paul @bravesstats
It's only 5 games but Freddie Freeman is hitting .400/.640/.867 so that's entirely ridiculous.
Also Ryan Flaherty? .474/.545/.632.

He could be Smoltz-like That’s what I said the moment I first saw him pitch. He really does have that caliber stuff. He’s just got to get the head right. Early in his stint here, I suggested he go see the same sports pyschologist that Smoltz saw. Dude has no-hitter stuff.

Just imagine how great Freh-deh would be doing with Keh-hemp hitting behind him to scarr teh pitchers.

I’ve said all along that Freddie could have just about anyone protecting him in the lineup and teams are going to be careful pitching to him.

If you add his last 5 seasons together before this year, he has a cumulative WAR of 1.6. Pitchers don't want any part of that.

gNats are huge favorites today with Mad Max on the mound.
I think the moneyline is -205 for Washington

I want Folty to be all he's supposed to be, also, but I'm starting to look at him the way I've looked at Julio the last few years. If you have head problems, see someone or go back home. This is the bigs. These guys get paid way too much money and have too many resources to let anything stand in their way of getting better. We need Yoda as our manager. Do, or do not, time it is, hmmmmm?

Agree... except that I have given up on Julio and haven’t on Folty.
Folty seems to be making progress...
Julio is making regress...

Agree... except that I have given up on Julio and haven’t on Folty. Folty seems to be making progress... Julio is making regress... That's exactly what I should have mentioned. When Julio takes the mound, I expect nothing. When Folty pitches, I still have hope. I'll also say that Folty should be considered our #1. Anyone but Julio. He might be a #5 on every other team and I'm not sure he'd even be effective as a reliever.
