This article really got under my skin; right as we have a chance to clinch the World Series. Just a really biased article with an agenda. www.cnn.com/2021/10/31/us/atlanta-braves-history-racism-blake/index.htmlI think the city of Atlanta and Kasim Reed completely blew it in terms of keeping the Braves at Turner Field. The did very little to invest in the area to the West and South of Turner Field. It just seemed to me the city officials were more worried about the kickbacks and contracts they could get for their friends for parking and vending.

I would never see anything from CNN, but them playing the race card on Atlanta is to be expected.

Yah, it is expected but really poor and unprofessional article after the Braves highlighted Hank Aaron and how he prevailed against racism. Also the Braves hire a large # of minorities and related businesses owned by minorities benefit. Having a majority % of your fans white is not just the Braves but probably all MLB teams.

Astros gonna blow this open unless we're lucky. Should have started Max Fried like anybody with a brain would have done.

Astros gonna blow this open unless we're lucky. Should have started Max Fried like anybody with a brain would have done. That's what it looks like to those of us who have been watching the Braves and baseball for decades. I keep thinking of 91 and 86 World series offhand. The WS is about momentum and right now it's surging for the Astros. I would also think law of averages for Braves and Atlanta sports has to turn at some point and hopefully it's this year and we get some heroic performance from the Braves in game 6.

Those opinions are all well and good....:
.. and have absolutely nothing to do with this tread.

The Braves move to Cobb County was ingenious for a number of reasons - the bottom line it was good for the BUSINESS of the team
They never would have been able to build the battery in the area they were in. They bought out acres of unused land, developed it for their own needs and in the end its been better for the team.
As for the neighborhood where they were - why don't they report that area has developed nicely and there is neighborhood building around the Summerhill neighborhood. GA State and the neighborhood have been doing well and partnering well together. There is a bank opening and a PUBLIX grocery store opening there with other businesses.
As always, CNN has their little ax to grind and we all know that.
Both the Braves and Summerhill are doing just fine.

Yah, CNN completely left out the part where the City of Atlanta and Georgia State re-imagined the Turner Field area. I don't have all the information but I believe the city of Atlanta was more worried about the money and money their friends were making from the parking and concessions that they didn't listen to what the Braves wanted. I think the city could have fostered more development and parking around the stadium.

I live near the Battery and I went over last night to enjoy some of the celebration. It looked to me like at least 60%(possibly more) of the people celebrating at the Battery were African American and that's not including the Latino folks. I took some photos and I want to send these to CNN. This doesn't fit into their Braves fans are 95% white narrative; Cobb County is very diverse. Not to mention the representation by Ron Washington and Eric Young on the Braves coaching staff; as well as the Latino/African American players that we have on the team.

Us winning it all must be a bitter pill for CNN to have to swallow. They should be happy but they can’t be because then the five people who still watch CNN would call them racist. Lol......a-holes.

I think the whole country, with the exception of the sick left, is tired of the "first black this and the first Latino that" narrative. What they don't understand (don't want to understand, actually) is that the rest of the country has moved on. There will always be a few racists amongst us, but that is an ever shrinking minority. The dimocrat party is trying to keep racism alive because it's all they've got. Their policies suck, and they know it.

The national media does not have a clue how our surrounding counties such as Cobb and Gwinett have become very diverse.
The harsh left has an ax to grind. They want to tell you how to think.
Most of the people that I know (of all groups ) are very capable of thinking for themselves and do not need MSNBC and CNN to think for them. The hard left is very patronizing and to me intellectually disrespectful.

It’s a government initiative to keep people as divided as possible, and they own the media and use it to promote the agenda. If we’re divided we won’t start focusing on how bad our entire government screws us, and that’s both sides.

Yah, our city was very divided as many big cities were with the George Floyd incident. Now there is an event that is bringing all people together in the city - white, black, latino, asian and the Braves and the Battery reflect that unity. That's why the front page article ticked me off.
