I would love to have Rosario and Soler (Soler if the NL adds the DL), and I'd like to have Joc also but I give that about a 0% chance of happening. As far as Joc goes. Plus I think he believes he can still find a place where he can play every day.

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I like Joc, but I really don’t think he’s consistent enough to play every day. It’s not so much a lefty/righty thing, either. He’s just inconsistent and doesn’t bring any great value anywhere. He is just a great guy to have on a team.

We signed Darren O'Day to a minor league contract today, not sure if anyone mentioned it yet.

The only way I see it as being possible is if he is willing to play for someone like the Pirates, but he's probably going to also want more money than they're willing to pay.
The Pirates just DFA'd Colin Moran today, that organization is something else. The guy has OPS'd something like .747, .751. .794 and .724 the last four years, and they just dump him. Those numbers won't exactly knock your Aunt Connie's socks off, but it's good enough that a terrible team should want to keep him. Or trade him? They couldn't get ANYTHING for him?

Looking at bad contracts around baseball.....the best option I see is David Price, one year left at $32M. Send them Ozuna, Camargo, Arcia and Newcomb for Price. Three of those guys may be non tendered tonight or tomorrow. We only lose $16M, we're out of the whole thing after 2022, and maybe Price is a serviceable #5 veteran pitcher for one year for us. It's a horrible idea but it shows how much I don;t want Ozuna on this team anymore.
Robinson Canó has two years left at $48M but we don't have a place to play him. I'm also not a fan either.

Speaking of David Price, do these teams not look around and see that contract and think twice about the stupid crap they’re doing? Obviously not.

None of the 8 or 10 year deals have ever been wise decisions, most of them are crash and burn within 3 to 5 years, but they can't help themselves. I don't know what's wrong with them now, it seems like they had been more sensible the last few years, but they are going full Rafiki right now.

He did not pitch in the majors in 2021. Oh well, that is alot of $$$$$ for a dumpsta dive He was good as recently as what, 2019? This and O'Day well, we will see. Seems these dumpster dive pitchers who were good are getting some real cash this off season. I do not want to hear any poor mouth from these owners if there is a lockout

Probably speaks to the market and how small our payroll wiggle room will be for mid season additions. Paying a prospect premium to buy down remaining money owed is not how any GM wants to use their limited trade capital.

They are supposed to have this stud farm system so maybe there is some rookie they plan on giving his PT too. That is one cheap team - they had a small window of opportunity for 3 yrs but they went kaput after that Moran will be a depth player for someone.

Detroit signs Javier Baez for 6 years, $140M.
This is the exact kind of ignorant move that ignorant teams make. The guy averages 3 WAR per season and is a massive snapperhead. He's one of those guys who even when he puts up decent numbers is a loser as far as intangibles and helps drag a team down overall.
Dude has a career 103 wRC+
Career 30% strikeout rate.
33.1% strikeout rate for the last two seasons combined.
We cry about Riley striking out too much and he's at exactly 25% rate the last two years combined.
