It was a good day.
Dodgers lose 6-4 to the Giants. I will root for the Dodgers to lose against EVERYBODY the rest of the way. I would rather have the Yankees win. If the Yankees and Dodgers play in the World Series I can't watch.
Spankees actually lost to Baltimore again today in New York, that's two days in a row.
The Cardinals lost 6-5 on a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th inning. They are 3 games out in the wild car race behind the Padres. So every loss hurts them, lol......
ESPN is desparately hoping for a LAD-NYY World Series, and they don't really even try to veil it either. It's a wet dream for them.

Dansby Swanson leads the league in games played, at a very demanding position.135 games. Travis d'Arnaud whose backup shouldn't even be playing MLB at this point in his career, has only played 37 games and sits every 3rd game. At times d'Arnaud is sitting every other day.
I have a feeling the number of innings played is starting to show on both Dansby and Freddie. Dansby has about a .670 career OPS for September so he may just falling into that routine. He's 3 for his last 31 and looking like he's lost it again. Considering he's never played a full season, this season has to be wearing on him. Plus it was probably a huge adrenaline rush to have the run he just went on for 6 weeks. Not hard to imagine a letdown from that now that he's cooling back off.
Guys need days off from time to time. This accomplishes 2 things: it gives your regulars a breather and it keeps your backups sharp. Of course Sargent Dumbass doesn’t understand that.

I like that he's staying but that seems like a lot to pay. I was thinking 2/$25M as he winds down his career. That being said using a couple of million from the the $11M they will save by not resigning Smyly isn't that big of a deal I guess.
I don't imagine they will resign Joc for $10M. I'm guessing they might renegotiate that down to about $5-6M. Joc could walk and get $2.5M and if someone else gave him $4M he'd come out ahead. Soler and Rosario are also free agents that will probably get $4-6M. They'd better resign Duvall for the $7M option (mutual) but Duvall may be able to get more than that. I get the feeling that he likes it in Atlanta and maybe he would sign for $7M. The Braves might have to ante up a bit more for 35 HR and 110 RBI.
I'm pretty sure it's clear that Snitker does not like Joc. I'd like to make Rosario our #1 priority, he's a player. He got $8M this year and had a down season, but he finished top 20 in the AL MVP voting twice in recent years, so he'll probably get paid at least $8M again and get a multi year deal from somebody. I'd like to have Duvall also, plus we have to consider what's going to happen with the wifebeater. I'm getting to the point now where I'm hoping we do get the DH in the NL because it would help us a lot. If we don't pursue Marte (which I'd say it's safe to say we won't) I'd be fine with Rosario being signed instead. Pache is looking pretty good too, so we could have a wealth of talented OFers. Waters shows the potential too but he is way too inconsistent right now. He's more up and down than Dansby, and that's hard to do!

No he doesn't like Joc, and I have no idea why. That's the big problem with Snitker. He misuses everybody. If he likes you, he plays you too much, and if he doesn't, he doesn't play you enough. I think this is a bigger problem than his old-school approach. He's just a bad manager, as has been said ad nauseum here.

He actually let's Vogt bat in the 9th inning down 1 run? That is unforgivable.
