Can someone explain to me why we cut Roark loose? He was pitching well, and he's got solid ML experience. I mean, I realize he's no Sean Newcomb, but still.

Braves sign Maikel Franco to a minor league deal. Not sure he'll ever see the big league roster, and I don't think it's going to cost the Braves much...so it's not bad insurance in case somebody gets hurt. I was never impressed with him as a Phillie. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/09/braves-sign-maikel-franco.html

Yeah I can see how this is a guy we need.

That Riley boy might just end up making it in the big leagues, lol.... He's hitting .360 since the All Star break.
I dunno... someone said yesterday that everyone should be on the chopping block.

Contract clause came up and it was either add him to the 40 man roster, drop someone from the 40 to make room, and call him up.. or he could opt out and become a free agent. The decision was made that there was no way in hell we would DFA Tomlin..

I've never been happier for any kid than I am for him. He's a great kid, you can just tell, and he's worked his ass off to get here. I'll be the first to admit that I was really beginning to doubt that he would make it. This doesn't really feel like just a hot streak, either. He seems really confident in himself. I'm not saying he's a .300 hitter going forward, but I'm not saying he's not, either. He's been very impressive on both sides of the ball.

I always had faith in him because at every single level he struggled at first then turned into a juggernaut. He did have me a little concerned a few times because he was struggling so much in MLB.
If someone asked if I thought he could hit 40 HRs or drive in 100 runs I would have said yes. If someone asked if I thought he could hit .270 in the big leagues I would have said probably never in his career. He was striking out so much I thought he might have issues maintaining a decent BA. It's really shocking how he's hitting in that regard this year because the trend is so much the other way, low batting averages and high power......and he's hitting for both average and power. Colorado announcers felt like he's a legit candidate for MVP. It's unreal to imagine that.

Dansby Swanson leads the league in games played, at a very demanding position.135 games.
Travis d'Arnaud whose backup shouldn't even be playing MLB at this point in his career, has only played 37 games and sits every 3rd game.

I have a feeling the number of innings played is starting to show on both Dansby and Freddie. Dansby has about a .670 career OPS for September so he may just falling into that routine. He's 3 for his last 31 and looking like he's lost it again. Considering he's never played a full season, this season has to be wearing on him. Plus it was probably a huge adrenaline rush to have the run he just went on for 6 weeks. Not hard to imagine a letdown from that now that he's cooling back off.

It was a good day.
Dodgers lose 6-4 to the Giants. I will root for the Dodgers to lose against EVERYBODY the rest of the way. I would rather have the Yankees win. If the Yankees and Dodgers play in the World Series I can't watch.
Spankees actually lost to Baltimore again today in New York, that's two days in a row.
The Cardinals lost 6-5 on a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th inning. They are 3 games out in the wild car race behind the Padres. So every loss hurts them, lol......
