No matter what, we need Smith to throw enough pitches to be unavailable tomorrow.

Smith threw almost all breaking balls and somehow didn't hang one, although the Robles flyball was a near miss.
If Escobar had somehow gotten on base Soto was coming up and this would have been another brutal L.
We dodged a bullet.

And the fact that Snit had Luke up at least gives us a chance that he is finally not 100% sold on Smith anymore

Tonight will just end up bolstering Snitker's faith in Smith. And while I would rather see Luke closing instead of Smith, I'd still prefer to see Rodriguez being the guy instead of Luke. And the way Matzek is rolling it makes sense to give him a shot.

I am glad we did not sell out on Charlie Morton who has had a nice yr for us and to their credit they have 8 out of 10 and tied for first place.
Keep taking two out of three, off to the right start tonight.
As for Will Smith, he drove us nuts but did not kill us tonight. The one insurance run helped.
Smith kills us when he has to protect a one run lead, seems to give up his HRS in that case. Prefer Rich Rod as closer but you know how that goes.

Listening to snot's post game-- Smith did a good job in a rough 9th inning that people can't appreciate unless they've pitched in one themselves.
Good grief. Looks like do or die, Smith is the closer without debate in Snot's mind.

On July 7th the Stripers were 23-32. Since then they've gone 27-6. They beat first place Durham again tonight, 6-4. They've won the first four games from them in the series and are within 5.5 games of them now. They started the series 9.5 back.
Pache 2-4 2B, SB
Rosario 0-3 Arcia 0-4 Camargo 3-4 3B Contreras 1-3 Demeritte 1-4 Wright 5 IP, 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 BB and 5 K's
Camargo is now hitting .324 and leading the East in batting average. AAA is divided into East and West.
Waters .253/.346/.414/.760 Pache .258/.333/.454/.787
Arcia .297/.368/.548/.916 Camargo .324/.403/.529/.932 Contreras .340/.398/.641/.1.039 (not enough ABs to qualify) Demeritte.295/.399/.615/1.014

Looks like do or die, Smith is the closer without debate in Snot's mind. Obviously Snit cannot get it into his head that Smith is not doing the job well. Two HR meltdowns in a week and he has his head in the sand, Its one thing to be a players manager but that quote is ridiculous. Does he think the people are not observing what is going on? That people have not pitched in a game themselves well, that is why they are in the stands. They pay to expect proficiency, not make feely good excuses If I were a reporter I would ask why he keeps making excuses for this worthless sorry BUM and ask it just like that - and I do not care one nano second about his feee-lings cause feee-lings should be hurt when you lose. I would get cussed out but do not care
