In his last 19 games Austin Riley is 28 for 77 for a .364 batting average, with 6 doubles, 8 home runs and 24 runs batted in. And he's struck out 21 times. And some here act like the 21 K's are the end of the world. The kid has become a force. I'm not worried about the K's. I'm not worried about the K's as long as he's also hitting, and he is. And he's hitting consistently, which is a pleasant surprise to me. As I've made clear I think consistent contributors are way more important than super streaky guys.
Riley slashes now for the season are .291/.368/.519/.886 and I don't see how anyone can not be thrilled with the despite the K's.

Don't make too much out of it.. it was a factual observation about his strikeout rate. I think claiming someone thinks it's "the end of the world" is a bit much. The end of the world is hyperbole, but WNC and PA were both making a big deal about it tonight.....a 2 doubles, 2 RBIs night. I thought it was stupid and uncalled for criticism and I stand by that sentiment.

The K's aren't even really that high in this era. Gallo and Ohtani have a lot more than Riley and they're universally praised. Riley isn't even in the top 10.........and he's still just a kid.

Pache's HR in the second game was a nice recovery, by the way, on the very next pitch after hitting himself in the gnards with a foul ball. He hit one straight down that came up and racked him, and he took a long time to get ready. Then homered on the next pitch. That takes a lot of balls, especially if they're sore!

That homer wasn't cheap for the peach....acronyms intended.

I agree about not being worried about the K's with that type of mostly consistent production. His slumps have shortened in duration, he has swings and misses but his swinging at the same junk he was swinging at in the past has pretty much gone away. I think most everyone is thrilled with his production when it's all said and done.

We are now in FIRST PLACE in the East!! Its been a battle with too many challenges to count but as a group they did not quit when they could have folded. We are the only team in the division with a plus run differential. And a decent one at that at plus 68. With just a mediocre pen we would be at least 5 up. Credit to the FO for not punting on the season. I don't know how much longer we can keep on with Will HR Smith blowing tight games but for now its a good thing they are on their first good run of the season.

Reggie Jackson and Harmon Killebrew K'd alot in their careers and they worked out just fine. Riley is raking and has become one of those part of the solution guys. Albies too, I did not know he would hit for that kind of power when he first came up.

Not one question from anyone in the post-game presser about Will Smith continuing as closer. That's really a shame that we have such milquetoast media covering the Braves.
We all should realize that Smith can blow 10 more games before this season is over and he'll still be the closer, but that doesn't mean the media shouldn't make Snitker at least answer to it every night.
Its as if Snitker gets a pass from this media for his technical managerial shortcomings because he is a nice guy and they generally like him. Its like a buddy fest discussion out there. One thing that helps Snitker is his record. For what his shortcomings are - bottom line is that he wins. At least in the regular season. Its not like he has the kind of record some of those Falcons coaches from years past had. And some of those guys (Petrino, Mora Jr, Van Brocklin, Glanville) were not so nice to deal with. It is easier to take those guys to task cause they were losers and SOB's at the same time.

It's funny that he gets so much credit when we win and no criticism (from the masses or media) when we lose.

I haven't chosen to die on any hill, dude.
I just thought you made a little too much of a couple of people talking about Riley's strikeouts.
We can move on now.
