Any logical reasoning Smith should still be closing with Rodriguez on the team and available to pitch?

I don't even let Snit bother me anymore. He's a fine human and a bad manager. That hasn't changed.

Not so much as the mangler of my baseball team.

Oh and just for the record... Tomorrow we get Leon Probably Smith "closing" again if it's a close game. He pitched Wednesday, Thursday and tonight, so maybe he'll get a day off tomorrow.

Any logical reasoning Smith should still be closing with Rodriguez on the team and available to pitch? Because the Braves were 48-1 when leading after 8, and many just can't see flaws anywhere and think everything is awesome and was done perfectly as long as we get the win. Now those that achieve the highest look for flaws and ways to get even better even during success, but not everyone thinks that way. It's like with the lineup... we scored well for 4-5 games because several people strung together good games at the same time... ergo the lineup is perfect and shouldn't be tweaked for the next 10 games no matter what happens.

Tomorrow is a huge game... if this team has turned a corner they will shake this off and get the win.
If not, it's probably game 2 of a 4 game losing streak or two weeks of more .500 ball.

what is that now 26 losses by the BP...i broke my remote after this one lol Overall.. yeah.. 24-26.. somewhere in there. The pen's been better for weeks though... we just need to not have Smith closing games with obviously better options on the team.

Serious question. On what basis did AA provide Will Smith with such a nice contract? Spin rate? Georgia boy? I really don't get it. I thought last year was maybe because of the COVID bout and the short season, but it's obvious that he just isn't that good. He's a guy who should be bullpen filler at a couple million per year, not a closer with a $40 million contract.

3 consecutive years of a sub 3 ERA with San Fran and coming off a 34 save year in his first stint as a full-time closer at a time when we were pretty desperate to find one.
That decision a couple of years ago doesn't bother me near as much as knowing what we have on the roster at this point in 2021 and staying committed to Smith as the closer.

His stats look good here, too. Sometimes it's not about stats. The guy's not a closer. It's frustrating, but what can you do? Snit will die on that hill come hell or high water.

His stats look "okay" here... not shutdown closer like, and I wasn't justifying him being a closer right now based on anything.. I was just responding to your question about what AA saw in him from 3 years ago that made him think he should be anything other than 2 million dollar bullpen filler.
I doubt you would have said that about him when AA signed him based on the information I provided... Saying it now is one thing.. saying it then, quite a bit different and I was responding to a post about what AA was thinking then.

AUTiger7222 @autiger7222 15h Tonight was Will Smith's 47th game pitched this year. Out of those 47 games he's only had 18 that were clean outings (no baserunners allowed). So even when he isn't giving up runs it's still usually an adventure and that's why so many of us can't stand Will Smith.
I'm still pissed at Will Smith
