Hey all, glad to see the Braves are doing well. Been able to catch parts of the games. Hopefully I'll be here more but last week my wife just had her 3rd retinal surgery in 4 months. With 5 days head down 24/7 I pretty much have to do everything for now. She has silicone oil in her eye for at least the next 6 months. Sorry to hear about Strider but I can't say I'm surprised. I've actually been expecting this which is why I wanted more pitching in the off season. You could see it coming. His fastball has been dropping from 99-100+ in 2022 to 94-96 tonight. It just doesn't seem to have the same life this year as it did several years ago. He used to blow people away with it but now it seems most of the Ks come on the slider. I wonder if trying to develop the curveball put extra stress on it. Hopefully, he just needs some rest by TJ is always in the back of your mind.
GO BRAVES

I am so sorry for your wife’s and for your situation, PA, that is a very challenging situation one must abide by for the retina to heal. I have friends who went through it and it is stressful.. for both the caregiver and the patient. With prayer and patience you’ll get through it .. you’ve been missed on the GTs. Best of health to you both! -renny

Best of health to you both! -renny Thank you so much renny. Unfortunately twice she has had scar tissue develop after the initial surgery in November to repair a torn and detached retina. At the end of January scar tissue was near the macula and beginning to affect her central vision so the surgery was done immediately at 5:30 AM the next day. They put silicone oil in her eye but gradually over the next two months scar tissue started pulling at the peripheral parts of her retina. At the end of March she went through another surgery to correct that. Must now have the oil in her eye for 6 months and can only sleep face down or on her sides so the oil doesn't damage the front part of her eye. It's been tough the last 4+ months. I also had a detached retina in 2014 after cataract surgery, was treated for what they thought was an infection and then had a followup vitrectomy in the other eye in 2015 but that can't compare to what she is going though. She's been on our church's payer list off and on since November. She hasn't really complained much except for when she is required to sit/lie face down 24/7. Prayers and patience are spot on.

PA, thoughts and prayers are with you guys.
Now wait until Sale goes on the I.L. we are really up the creek without a paddle.
Better sign Bauer as a safety net right now.

Even with the additions I was afraid of injuries. Strider and now they are starting to creep up on Fried and how long can Morton really go. We could be in a situation next year where we're without Strider, Fried, and Morton. That leaves Sale (hopefully he isn't injured also) and Lopez and depends on guys like AJSS, Dodd and Waldrep. Not an ideal situation. Bauer may be on the table sooner rather than later.

Not an ideal situation. Bauer may be on the table sooner rather than later. Even with Kelenic off to such a good start, we're paying $18M for left field this year and then extended Sale with the $20M, with him being very questionable as to whether he'll hold up physically. It always made a lot more sense to use that kind of money to shore up our starting pitching. We really don't want to get into the Dodd/Shuster caliber mode again with our starters.

Sorry about your wife PA. Many prayers to y'all.
This team is stupid for not signing Bauer, but Snit threw down his moral gauntlet and he will die on that hill.
I wonder how much Strider trying to develop a curve ball at this point his career added to the injury.

Strider has "damage" to the UCL in his pitching arm... Going to see the doctor Meister that performed TJS on a number of notable players. This sucks. Even if it's not torn, it's bad. You won't see him for the next 4 months...at best.

Guaranteed money (earned or still owed):
Strider: $78.3 million
Think Strider feels he was “taken advantage of” by signing that early-career extension now?
Might become one expensive closer...

Kelsey Wingert-Linch @kelswingert · 21m Tonight’s game at Coors Field could be interesting… sustained winds of 40+ mph during the game with gusts over 60mph. Buckle up!

I wonder how much Strider trying to develop a curve ball at this point his career added to the injury. Thanks HMF. I think working on a curveball may have a part in it but who knows. He's already had TJ once so maybe it just unraveled a bit.
